Let’s Wash Our Hands

Our preschool theme for the year, “All Hands on Deck,” has already been taking place in room 3 as we taught the children how to properly wash their hands. We started with an interactive demonstration pouring a little black pepper into a container of water,  a cut-out hand at the bottom of the container, and dish soap. The black pepper represents germs, and each child applied a drop of soap to the pepper water, which repelled the pepper. Then we gave each child hand soap, taught them how to scrub both sides of their hands and in between their fingers before rinsing with water and drying with a paper towel. Last week, we also read Pete the Kitty Wash Your Hands to help us implement this lesson. Everyone had fun and did a great job!
