BLESSINGS FROM GOD

Our bible story during the month of November was Jesus feeds the 5,000 John 6:9.  A story of sharing and being thankful. What an amazing God we have. Through the power of prayer, five loaves of bread and two small fish that a little boy shared, Jesus was able to feed a multitude of His followers.

Our pumpkins, leaves, sticks and fall items donated by all of you provided the children with a fun, exciting and learning activity. The children touched, climbed, compared small and large pumpkins we also dissected and explored inside our pumpkins.

Before making Stone Soup, we explored the smells and tastes of different kinds of vegetables. Thank you for bringing and sharing all the vegetables that made the most delicious Stone Soup. A special Thank you to our parent volunteers: Miriam (Aspen’s mom), Rachel (Ava’s mom), Kelli (Camden’s mom),  Peifen (Ella’s mom), and Karen (Kaira’s mom).

We made hand prints which were sent home as a “Thanksgiving Momentous.”   Preschoolers cannot be expected to create masterpieces, but they can develop symbolic understanding by representing their experiences in paintings, drawings, and collages. Symbolic understanding is key to begin reading, and the discussions a child has about art are a form of practicing communication and expanding their vocabulary.

Oh No!!!! Here comes the celebrations and the holidays.  This means that your little ones will be at home extra days or you might take them out of town to see families “Yes,” their routines will be disrupted. It also means that when they come back to school they may or may not go through separation anxiety.

Stone Soup

Hello Room 5 Family and Friends!

This week we cooked stone soup and ate it together as a class during lunch time. All of our friends participated by bringing in some veggies, beans, chicken, pasta, and bread. Without all the contributions, it would not have been possible! (Thank you parents!) Here are some pictures from cooking stone soup and enjoying it. Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

November 2018 Preschool News and Calendar of Events

November kicks off LOADS of fun in preschool…from Apple and Pumpkin Day celebrations to Thanksgiving and Christmas; there is no shortage of holiday fun over the next few months.

NOVEMBER CURRICULUM

Our November curriculum will focus on friendship, farm life, harvest, and Thanksgiving. Our older pod will take a BIG field trip to Underwood Farms and of course, we spend time reading the book Stone Soup to prepare for our annual Stone Soup celebration!

3 Skills Sheet_November

Click the link to find out which skills we will be focusing on. Please remember that the skills listed are the overarching objectives to be learned by the end of Pre-K. In general, our two year olds will begin investigations with these skills, three year olds will explore and and expand on these skills, while the Pre-K students (entering kindergarten next fall) will refine and gain mastery. As always, social-emotional and spiritual learning is at the forefront of all that we do in preschool as it is the basis of being able to learn successfully

HOUSEKEEPING:

Just a reminder that we are CLOSED in observance of Veteran’s Day – November 12

THANK YOU to all the parents who helped at our Site Work Day. The yard and classrooms look absolutely beautiful!

Fall weather brings cooler temperatures (well…hopefully anyway!). Please be sure to update your child’s cubby box with season-appropriate clothing and send a sweater during cooler days. The playground can be chilly in the mornings.
