Stone Soup

Stone Soup is a tradition at the preschool that we have done for quite awhile. You bring what you got and you put it in the pot!

The children love chopping the vegetables for the soup and then during lunch we all get to try the soup. Along with some fruit and bread!

The soup was so good. Thank you to all the parents who helped make the soup! 🍲
Some friends were fans of the soup and other friends. . . not so much. But we all tried new things!

Stone Soup teaches us about sharing and what awesome things we can do when we all work together! Thanks for all the yummy ingredients.

Farm Days

Last week we had some special visitors! Animal visitors in fact. Usually this time of the year we go to a farm and this year the farm came to us.

We talked about what animals we might see and what sounds they make. We also made some cool headbands to wear while we pet them.

The goats were a big hit and we got to feed them hay and carrots.
We tried to take a group photo (it’s so hard to look in one direction).
The pig was a fan favorite. Her name was Anastasia.
The goats were soooo hungry!
We loved being able to interact with the animals.

It was so much fun seeing farm animals and getting to touch them. We ended our farm day by making paper plate animals; pigs and sheep. Some friends made more than one ( you’re welcome!)

Apple 🍎 Pumpkin πŸŽƒDays

Yay October! Fall has come and it has brought a few cool days (and some really warm ones) but with it we have a few special celebrations. Apple/Pumpkin Day is one of those special times that we get to celebrate; not just once but two days! From special snacks to art and fun stories we have had a couple of busy days. Here are a couple of pictures of what we did.

On the first day we had a special story and a snack that was like an apple pie in a cup. Complete with Graham cracker crust ( graham cracker pieces).

We also made apple prints and did a fine motor activity with apple erasers and tongs.

On the second day we had small pumpkin spice pancakes and we played on the patio.
We got to decorate pumpkins and make paper jack-o-lanterns.

We loved having the opportunity to have parents in our classrooms and we look forward to seeing more of you guys as the year progresses!

Small Groups

We have officially started small groups! Last week we picked out our group names. This week we are focusing on the letter A and things that start with A like apples. Right now we are getting used to gathering in our groups and we are learning which teacher leads each small group. So here they are!

Ms. Sheri has the Purple Penguins.
Mr. Yorlin has the Pink Dinosaurs.
Ms. Kira has the Blue Kangaroos.

Small Groups happen every day except for Wednesday and we are having a lot of fun learning new things. We look forward to a year of learning and exploring together.

One Week Down!

Last Wednesday was the start of a brand new school year! It has now been officially one week and we are enjoying getting to know all of the children in the classroom.

In the morning the friends are greeted by Ms. Sheri and Mr. Yorlin and they get to play in the classroom until about 8:30 when everyone takes a trip to the potty before hitting the yard.

We then transition out to the yard and we get to be on the whole yard in the morning!
Then when we go back inside we wash our hands and go to morning meeting where we sing fun songs and read books. The book this week is called Rosie Goes to Preschool; an appropriate one for the start of a school year.
Their schedule is a lot like ours!
We have been painting a lot during our free time. Inside we are exploring green and white and outside there is red, yellow and blue.
We love playing with play dough and building with blocks. There are so many activities in the classroom to explore and get involved in.
After nap we have another snack time and then we get to play in the yard again.
We love playing with the friends and the teachers! Hide and Seek is a popular game for the afternoon.

After our second time in the yard we come in our classroom and relax on the rug for a moment with a story before we get to play again until it’s time to go home. Another successful day complete.

We are so grateful for a new school year and a chance to be a part of each and every child’s growth and development. We look forward to year filled with exploration and adventure.

The Last Day

The last day of summer came so quickly and while we thought we knew it was coming we weren’t emotionally ready to say goodbye.

We played outside and we had popsicles to celebrate a birthday! We all stayed close together on our last day. There were lots of hugs and love.
We watched Bluey and ate Pirates Booty and hugged the teachers sooo many times. We had our last morning meeting and did the final Donut Shop to snack.
We watched a little more Bluey in the afternoon. It’s everyone’s new favorite show!

Thank you all for a great summer and even though we didn’t get to go on field trips we still had so much fun with each other! We wish all of our students a fun and relaxing break and a fantastic start to the new school year! We love you all.

Week 7 & 8: Sailing Away. . .

The summer is drawing to a close and it feels like it went too quickly!! We tried to go out with a bang and make as many happy memories as we possibly could. Here are a few photos of those memories.

We had popsicles and Pirates Booty on Wednesday and Thursday of the last week! No complaints about either. 😁
The last Pump and Splash! We all got so wet. Apparently if you tell children they can throw water at you they will do so with gusto!
Slow slide is a big hit with Room 3 friends. I go down the slide as slowly as possible and they all go down with me. Such a silly game that they seem to love.

Week 6! The Pirate Pals

This week was our Pirate week! We looked for treasure in the quarry and ran from sharks in the structure area. We wore our best Pirate clothes and had fun!

Snow Cones are always well loved πŸ₯°!
We love playing with each other and building and creating. On Wednesday we celebrated a birthday (Mine!) and we had popsicles. Thanks for celebrating with me everyone! πŸ’•
Thursday was our official Pirate Party day! There were so many awesome Pirate outfits!
It was so hot we had popsicles in the afternoon as well.
Mr. Tim came and read us some Pirate stories while we ate afternoon snack.
Today our internet wasn’t working so we didn’t get to watch Jake and the Never Land Pirates. Instead we watched Where the Wild Things Are, Goodnight Gorilla and a Mickey Mouse short as well as a couple of music videos from chapel songs.

Week 5!

It’s the 2nd half of summer and what a week it has been! We watched a movie (Octonauts), ate popcorn, danced to chapel songs, had a bubble party, listened to Tiny Bubbles, played with water, had snow cones and homemade popsicles!

We learned about when John the Baptist baptized Jesus. Someone told a story about being baptized by their mom by being dunked in a pool!
We watched Octonauts!
Homemade popsicles were a hit! 100% fruit juice for the win!
Just a few friends taking a bite out of Ms. Kira’s cheeseburger backpack.

Thank you all for another fun filled week! This week we are gearing up for Pirate Week! We have been treasure hunting in the quarry and we look forward to a week filled with pirate adventures.

Week 4. . . Halfway through

This summer feels like it’s flying by! Week 4 is already done!

Tuesday is always a favorite day! 😁 With water play and snow cones it is no big surprise why.
We have so much fun playing together. Every day we get to use our imaginations in new and exciting ways!
We watched Bubble Guppies and ate popcorn. 🍿 ( some of us wanted a longer movie. . . maybe next time πŸ˜‰)
The playhouse is still a big crowd pleaser. We have tea parties and luncheons together.
Even in the heat we love running all over!

So far it has been a fun summer and it feels like it is just zipping by. Thank you for all the fun we have had and we look forward to the rest of summer! 🌞
