This past month, we learned about our past presidents, specifically, Washington and Lincoln, through matching games, art and building. Stove pipe hats exhibited chalk art. Photos of Lincoln’s log cabin were available at the Lincoln Log building station to inspire building creativity. Puzzles of our presidents and matching games helped our students learn a little about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

We are working on making a banner to hang in the outdoor play area and preschool lobby. It’s a wonderful piece that not only displays whimsical colors but also allows us to showcase everyone’s artwork together and demonstrate collaboration. There will be three large hanging banners and we can’t wait to display them!

This week I started the series of lessons of “Meet the Masters”. We will be learning about different artists and the impact they made on art history. I wanted to start the new year with a “Pop of Color.” Andy Warhol was an American artist who started the movement of Pop Art in the 60’s was a commercial illustrator and producer and he made screen printed art pieces. We looked at several of his prints but specifically “Flower, 1964”. The students then painted their own take on that piece. -Mrs. Monica

The children love hearing the story of the nativity, even though many have heard it plenty of times. They feel proud shouting out what comes next. 😉
I hope you find a special place to hang their nativity scene in your home.
Merry Christmas and God bless!

Winter art projects are in full swing in the studio… lots of white paint, sparkle collages, winter scenes and glitter, glitter, glitter!! Yay for the season and bling bling. Remember the true reason for the season among all the hustle and bustle…and count your blessings! Almost, Merry Christmas…

Fall is my personal favorite season, and because I’m bias, we tend to do various seasonally-based art projects during this season. We learn all about the different leaves and we investigate the process of the change of colors of the leaves. We also talk about how it gets darker earlier in the day, how it begins to get a little chillier, etc. For this seasonal project, the children painted a beautiful fall tree painting using water colors. Others painted a pile of leaves…

In the studio, we learned all about the season of fall. We questioned why the weather changes, why it gets darker earlier, the changes of the colors in the leaves and we also talked briefly about the other 3 seasons. We then looked at all the different types of trees. And talked about how every tree has different types of leaves. Unique to each tree type God has created. They then painted their very own fall tree watercolor painting…
