Today our preschoolers got to show their gentle side and meet some of God’s fluffiest little creatures. We had our own private petting zoo! Room 5 walked all the way up to the Big PCS Campus and gained some first hand experience on connecting with animals with the help of some trained experts and the loving care of their teachers. They had a magical time getting up close and personal with their furry friends!

As teachers, we are constantly being reminded the glory of God’s creation when we get to work so closely with your little ones. It was a real joy to provide your little guys with the opportunity to feel wonderment and protective over a life so much smaller than them! Today’s petting zoo was a wonderful experience which reinforced the truth that the Lord entrusted us all to take care of each other- not just humans but plants and animals as well. Each life is a precious gift here on Earth and at preschool we like to take time out of our busy days to acknowledge and marvel at that.

Say Goodbye to Session 1!

Room 5 had a wet and wild first session of Fun in the Sun Summer Camp here at PCPS!

We’ve learned about God’s creation, Noah’s Ark and the Great Flood, the baby Moses in the river, and Moses growing up to free the Isrealites! This week we are also playing with the theme of Derby races! We are measuring force and learning cause and effect with our hot wheels launch pads, creating art using linear and symmetrical track marks from toy cars, and outside we have pool noodle pony races. We’ve included some fireworks art to extend the Independence Day celebrations of our long weekend, and as always- we still love setting the theme with a great book. This week we are reading, “Wake Up Engines,” by Denise Dowling Mortensen. We can’t wait to blast off into session 2 next week!

Piñata FFFIIIEESSSSTTAAA!

It’s the second to last day of fiesta week and what better thing to do than bust open some piñatas.The children could barely contain themselves when they found out they were going to open up a piñata and collect some toys and candy. As an added challenge and element of fun, the children were blind folded when they stepped up to bat. The only excitement level was surreal, especially when they heard Mr. Timmy was going to hit piñata as well. Worry not though! An end to fiesta week means the beginning of another party in the following weeks.

(Treasure) Island Paradise

The children went on an island adventure to Pirate Cove this week! It was tropical hot and busy. We started the week with tropical fruit kabob.

Our art activities included lei making and treasure maps.

Tuesday the children got to cool off by doing water play at the elementary school.

We watched a video to learn hula and a few episodes of Jake and the Neverland Pirates.

On Thursday we went to Discovery Cube LA. A big thank you to all the parents who made it possible by driving us out to Sylmar.

The fun continued Friday with a big obstacle course bouncy, learning a Filipino dance, Tinikling, and Filipino food.

We are off to the races next week!!!!!!

Everything’s Coming Up, Moses!

This week we have been learning about the way God helped baby Moses by saving him and having the princess find him so he could be safe and live in the palace. We taught about this in chapel this week and all your kiddos did a terrific job! Today we made a baby Moses snack: Chow Mein treats for the hay, inside a cupcake liner basket complete with a mini marshmallow to represent Moses’ body, and an M&M for his head. Your little blessing will be bringing this home to share with you 😉. We also painted the Nile river and placed baby Moses in it. After all this Moses talk we decided to have a hand at parting our own sea, or swimming pool as the case may be 😜. The water was reluctant to part, but a great swimming time was had by all!

A Fabulous Second Week of Summer Fun!

The children had a blast during their second week of summer camp. Their excitement was evoked by numerous different activities such as art, water play and the ever so sought after bouncy house. That wasn’t all though, we also had the pleasure of having a dancer come on campus and show us the delight that is Armenian folk dancing. Overall the children enjoyed our Noah’s Ark themed week. Now the question is, how much more fun can they have during Island Paradise?

A Wonderful Week 2!

Room 5 had a wet and wonderful second week of our Fun in the Sun Summer Camp!

We got creative using math and color matching to glue fruit loops onto the corresponding rainbow lines as we recalled the story of Noah’s Ark. We had our very own cardboard Ark in the dramatic play center stocked with plush animals two by two! Some of our friends got creative with the leftover fruit loops and made cereal smash art!

We stayed cool during the heat wave by ramping up the outdoor water play, and closed out the week with a day of fun in a bouncy house! Everybody jumped, took turns, and worked up a healthy sweat with a big smile. Most importantly we all stayed hydrated and praised the Lord for the water that keeps us going. As we all continue to conserve water in this drought we have come up with fun ways to conserve water and remain cool in the heat!

What a blessing it is to learn and love the Lord together as we delight in his creation all summer long!

Marimba Music from Mexico! Ole!

Mr. Lucas came and played some songs from Mexico on his Marimba for us to close out our fiesta week.

Fiesta Week in Room 2!

Our summer program is off to a great start with “Fiesta” week! The children have been enjoying songs in Spanish, Alabare, and Spanish finger plays by Jose-Luis Orozco. They made salsa and on Thursday they got to hit a piñata! We ended the week with Mr. Lucas playing his marimba for us. Even though it was a gloomy week we still squeezed in some water fun!
