New and Reminders 2024

Can you believe that it’s already March? We are about to spring into spring and can hardly wait to see what hatches around the preschool.

Classrooms have sent out our mid-year reports via email for all the kiddos. Be sure to take a look. Teachers will happily chat with parents who want to discuss the year’s progress and future.

Did you know Dr. Seuss wrote Green Eggs and Ham using only 50 words?

Published in 1960, the book originated as a wager between Random House publisher/co-founder Bennett Cerf and Theodor Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss.  “Bennett Cerf bet me I couldn’t write a book using 50 words or less, and I wanted to show him that I could,” Dr. Seuss.

Over the past 60 years, Dr. Seuss’ books and stories have shaped and continue to impact early childhood literature. We will celebrate him and his contributions at preschool by reading several of his books this year. Thank you, Dr. Seuss, for firing our imaginations and our love of rhyme and introducing us to the worlds inside of books.

Did you miss our first picture days, or are you hoping for a redo? Make-up Picture Day will be our last chance to capture those preschool smiles officially. Please let us know if you need your picture taken by stopping by the front desk.

*Tuesday/Thursday friends are welcome to drop by and take their pictures, too.

Our Fruit of the Spirit for March is Gentleness. We will explore what it means to be gentle and read the Parable of the Lost Sheep.

As it is March, we will also discuss St. Patrick, his ministry, and how he used the clover to explain the nature of the trinity, three in one. Chapel is always a wonderful time spent together in worship, fellowship, and the praise of the Lord.

Our last Teacher In-service Day of the year. These days are crucial and provide us the much-needed time for training, planning, preparation, and cleaning that can’t be achieved while the children are on campus. We are grateful for these opportunities to grow and improve all we do in service to the children and families.

The main campus will be CLOSED for their Mini-Spring Break on Monday, March 11th, and Tuesday, March 12th.

Will you be joining us for our Preschool Fun in the Sun or Kinder Camp this year?

If so, be sure to turn in your summer camp registration forms ASAP. Don’t miss out on your chance to be a part of the fun at the preschool this summer and to divide your summer tuition into two payments.

*Hard copies of our summer registration packets are available in the preschool lobby.

With a touch of the blarney, we will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year with leprechauns, shamrocks, and so much more. The story of St. Patrick is also an excellent time to talk about the call to spread the gospel to the world.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

News and Reminders 2024

We adore the month of love and are looking forward to all the exciting things that will happen over the next four weeks!

The preschool is thrilled to participate in this year’s FUN RUN event!

WHEN: Fri., Feb. 2nd from 10:15 AM to 11:00 AM

WHERE: The PCS Field or Auditorium

Tuesday/Thursday, friends are welcome to join us, with a parent, for the event itself.

All the kiddos will have a special FUN RUN shirt to wear on the day of the event. To avoid any mishaps with the t-shirts, classrooms will hold onto the T-shirts and put them on the children the day of. Tuesday/Thursday friends will have the option of taking their T-shirts home on Thursday.

Parents are welcome to join us for the FUN RUN by coming to the preschool prior to the event and walking over with the kiddos or by signing in through the main campus front office and meeting us at the field. MVP Hours are available for helping at the FUN RUN.

The children will be encouraged but not required to run/participate.

It is the month of love, and we focus on where love comes from. After all, G.O.D. is L.O.V.E. We look forward to coming together to worship and celebrate the love of God for each of us and our love for Him and each other.

1 John 4:7-12

Each classroom will celebrate the holiday with special festivities on both Tuesday, February 13th, and Wednesday, February 14th. Please be sure to keep a look out for classroom-specific details about what they’ll be doing. This includes how each classroom will handle Valentine’s Day favors.

  • Here are a few quick suggestions…
  • Avoid edible treats. Instead, themed pencils, crayons, erasers, stickers, or other small items would be a great gift idea.
  • Simple and small is always best.
  • On the cards, sign – To: My Friend         From: Your Child’s Name
  • Due to flux schedules, not all the kids know each other, but it is easier to give to everyone than to figure out who comes on which day. The classrooms will provide a total head count for each room.
  • Avoid the “Boy/Girl” Valentine trap. Allow your child to select the Valentine’s they wish to give instead of worrying about how many boys and girls there are. The kids get so much more out of the reflected diversity of their peers’ interests and the things they want to give.
  • There is no obligation to give out Valentine’s cards/treats, but you are welcome to participate as you see fit.

Teacher In-service Days are crucial and provide us the much-needed time for training, planning, preparation, and cleaning that can’t be achieved while the children are on campus. We are grateful for these opportunities to grow and improve all that we do in service to the children and families.

While we don’t typically do a deep study of American history or civics as a part of the preschool experience, we are happy to celebrate two of our nation’s most influential leaders and the role presidents play in shaping and guiding our country.

Let us raise standard to which the wise and honest can repair; the rest is in the hands of God. – George Washington

My concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right. – Abraham Lincoln

It is time to capture those adorable preschool smiles once again! Preschool Picture Days have arrived.

The preschool will host School Pictures from Julie Lilly Photography on Wednesday, February 21st, and Thursday, February 22nd. Your child will be photographed only on the listed days. Please look out for more information from your child’s teachers about which day has been assigned to you.

Families will receive an envelope for their child’s picture purchases the week before Picture Days (February 12th-16th). Please complete and return to the preschool office on or before Picture Day.

Please let us know if you have any questions; we are happy to help!!

Staying Healthy at Preschool

We want to thank all of our families for their support and understanding as we navigate the winter months and the challenges of keeping our preschool healthy and safe. A few things to keep in mind…

If you notice your child is under the weather or displaying any signs or symptoms of potential illness, please exercise caution, keep them home, and monitor their condition. While most preschool illnesses are common and pass quickly, some are much more concerning, such as RSV.

State regulations also remind us that children may not attend school if they have had a fever, vomited, or had diarrhea in the last 24 hours. This means if your child experiences any of these conditions, they must stay home from school the following day and may return to school the day after. For example, if they have a fever on Monday, the potential first day back would be Wednesday. The same standard holds true if a child is sent home from school with any of these issues.

Please know that our team will be monitoring our kiddos, and we will contact families if we spot signs or symptoms while they’re on campus. Conversely, we appreciate parent support in our staff’s discernment regarding a child’s presence at school. Often, sick children may be cleared by a doctor to return to school but may present minor symptoms such as a lingering cough or runny nose.

Our team greatly appreciates parent notification when their child is out due to illness. It’s essential for tracking, informing other families if needed, and potentially preventing further spread. Those notifications also give us peace of mind and allow us to keep you in our prayers.

News and Reminders 2024

Happy New Year! We are so excited to be back together at preschool in 2024. Here are a few quick reminders about what we will look forward to this month.

This month’s chapel will focus on the visit of the magi as well as revisiting the details of the nativity story. So often, we see depictions of the magi worshiping Jesus at the stable, but it took them a whole additional year to find him! We can’t wait to explore the story and see what other details we are able to parse out regarding their auspicious arrival and the gifts they bring.

We will be celebrating the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., along with the rest of the nation, by taking the day to remember and reflect on his service and sacrifice.

At the preschool, we approach the concept of social justice at an age-appropriate level by acknowledging the meaningful contributions of historical figures such as MLK but more specifically by reflecting on the love and nature of God. God teaches us that we are all created in His image (Gen. 1:26), that we are all one in Christ Jesus (Eph. 5:21), that we are called to stand for others (Prob. 31:8-9), and most importantly, to love God and each other. (Matt. 22:37-39, John 15:12).

We are having our first Moonlight Magic event since 2020. This is a chance for parents to have a night out and for the preschoolers to have a pajama party! The event follows our preschool day from 6 to 9 pm.

Information and registration forms were sent out prior to our Christmas break by Mrs. Allen, the director of the BYH. Still, additional forms and information can be found in the preschool lobby.

BYH registration is closed, but the preschool will accept forms until Friday, January 12th. Spaces are limited and are first come, first served.

We are excited to announce an on-site field trip to the snow this winter! Starting Thursday, January 25th, we are turning the yard into a winter wonderland with snow! The snow will be provided by an outside company, Arctic Glacier, specializing in snow/ice events. Each classroom will have an opportunity to explore the frosty fun as an extension of their classroom’s yard time.

We recommend bundling up your little ones on those days and sending snow-appropriate clothes, footwear, and extra clothes to change into after the event.

*This event will be postponed if the forecast calls for rain on either of our planned days.

It is time to capture those adorable preschool smiles once again! Preschool picture days have arrived.

The preschool will host School Pictures from Julie Lilly Photography on Wednesday, Feb. 21st, and Thursday, Feb. 22nd. Your child will be photographed only on one of the days. Please look out for more information from your child’s teachers about which day has been assigned to your kiddo.

We will also be parking on the PCS field.

It is time for our Preschool Christmas chapel! All the classes will gather to worship and experience the Nativity Story with Mr. Tim. This is one of our favorite chapels of the year as we remember the reason for the season.

One of our beloved Christmas traditions at preschool is our PJs and Hot Cocoa Days! We love getting cozy and watching a classic Christmas short such as How the Grinch Stole Christmas or Charlie Brown’s Christmas Special. Add a little popcorn, a warm cup of cocoa, and an entire class of friends, and it makes for a beautiful time together.

From our preschool family to yours…

May your Christmas season be filled with love, light, and laughter as you gather together with family and friends to enjoy festive traditions, remember those we love, create memories, and celebrate the reason for the season. We pray blessings over everyone during the holiday break and look forward to being together again in the New Year.

In His service and with deep, heartfelt love,

Pasadena Christian Preschool

News and Reminders 2023

It is time for us to reset our clocks as we “Fall Back” by one hour. This small change will have an impact on our kiddos, from emotional drop-offs to concerns about how dark it gets while they’re still at school. The classrooms will discuss the time change, and we are prepared to support the children as they adjust.

As it gets darker/colder earlier, we will be transitioning from afternoons spent in the yard and on the patios to inside the classrooms.

Younger Pod – Rm 4 for Rm 4 & 5 Friends

This month’s chapel will focus on the story of Noah’s Ark. The children adore this story and its emphasis on family, animals, and listening to God. We can hardly wait to worship and praise God together.

The preschool will be open for Veterans Day. We are thankful and eternally grateful to all the men and women who have served and are currently serving our country and the families that support them. We will be honoring their sacrifice and service with the kiddos on campus.

We are having a special visit from our Local Fire Station. They will be making a stop at the preschool with the truck, crew, and a few surprises. We can hardly wait to see it all in person. Hurry, hurry, drive the firetruck!

One of our favorite preschool firefighter songs is Hurry, Hurry, Drive the Firetruck.

Stone Soup Days are one of the most significant preschool events of the year. Based on the beloved children’s book Stone Soup, each child brings a vegetable/food item to class to contribute to the community/class pot of soup. Your classroom teachers or Room Parents will let you know the details of how you can pitch in and be a part of this beautiful preschool annual tradition.

News and Reminders 2023

Hello Everyone,

We have so much to do and look forward to in October…

We are collecting pumpkins, squash, and gourds of all shapes and sizes in the preschool lobby the week of October 2nd and creating our very own Preschool Pumpkin Patch!

If you would like to contribute, every $20 donation counts towards 1 hour of MVP.

After we refresh the preschool on Parent Site Work Day, Saturday, October 7th, we will redistribute all our squash across the campus from the Outdoor Classroom to Rooms 1 through 5.

Thanks to everyone who has already donated! We can’t wait to see how big our Pumpkin Patch will become.

Our second chapel of the year is here! For our first chapel together, we focused on the Creation Story. We are now moving on to Adam and Eve and discussing the power of choices, consequences, and God’s love.

Our Chapel Overview

Parent Site Work Day is just around the corner!

Don’t miss out on your chance to help our preschool, build community, and earn those MVP hours.

There are two ways to participate in this year’s event.

  1. Donate materials/supplies. (Every $20 spent is worth 1 hr. of MVP.)
  2. Help at the event. (Psst…volunteering to work at this event is worth double hours. Work 2 and receive 4. 😉

We will clean classrooms, power wash the patios, add sand and woodchips, and more. Please use the SignUp.com link below to join in all the fun.

It is time for a teacher in-service day. These days are crucial and provide us the much-needed time for training, planning, preparation, and cleaning that can’t be achieved while the children are on campus. We are grateful for these opportunities to grow and improve all we do in service to the children and families.

Once again, the main campus and preschool will participate in the Great California ShakeOut. This will be a full earthquake drill involving practicing “Bunnies in the Hole,” aka duck & cover, and a muster onto the main campus for an official headcount.

The elementary/junior high will also be involved in a pantomime of pretend injuries and other disaster-related activities. The preschoolers, however, will muster on the big field grass, where we will read books, sing songs, and possibly have a snack before returning to the preschool campus to resume our day.

Fall Conferences are here! We will sit down to discuss the kiddos and all we’ve done and plans for the days ahead. Please use the classroom links below to find your classroom information and sign-ups.

Childcare will be provided for all our current preschoolers. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to accommodate sibling care at this time.

They’re back! We will once again be taking Candid Photos of all the kiddos at the preschool this year. These photos are different from traditional school photos as they are meant to catch the kids in action. Our photographer, Adrea Scheidler, is a PCS mom with many years of experience capturing those adorable preschool smiles. Once photos have been taken, Ms. Adrea will provide families with individual links for viewing and purchasing options.

Our annual tradition of Apple Pumpkin Days is just around the corner. We will celebrate this year’s harvest season during the last week of October with unique themed books, activities, and treats. Watch for emails from your classroom teachers or Room Parents about how you can help support this fun-filled fall tradition.

We work hard at staying connected and will do our best to respond to parent communications during our regular operation hours from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.

While parents are welcome to send us emails, Procare messages, or leave voicemails at any time, outside of emergencies, our staff will respond once they are on campus.

Will you be volunteering on campus this year?

If you are planning on helping out in the classroom or during a special event, we will need a signed Volunteer Confidentiality Agreement on file for you.

Hard copies are available in the Preschool Office.

Mark your calendars! Rooms 1, 2, & 3 will be going on our traditional fall field trip to Underwood Family Farm this year, yay! It has been three years since we have enjoyed this fantastic outing, and we can’t wait. More details will be released throughout the month.

Rooms 4 & 5 will enjoy Farm Days on-site with special farm animal guests.
