BROWN POTATOES

What room 4 had to say about potatoes.

APPLE PUMPKIN FUN

This month we read many different apple and pumpkin books such as; “Up,up, up It’s Apple Picking Time” by Judy Flickes Shapiro, “The Biggest Apple Ever,” “The Biggest Pumpkin Surprise Ever!” by Steven Kroll, “The Apples on the Tree,” by Steve Metzger, “Plumpy, Dumply Pumpkin,” by Mary Serfozo, “Too Many Pumpkins,” by Linda White, “The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid Of Anything,” by Linda Williams and “ The Pumpkin Patch Parable,” by Liz Curtis Higgs. Some of these books are too long for some of our kiddos so we paraphrase them as we see fit. During circle time we picked special books to read and others were read through out the day.

Our pumpkin patch on the loft was decorated with all the pumpkins you all brought to class, it looks adorable.🥰 Today we all indulge in some popcorn and a movie and a gummy worm.

APPLE PUMPKIN DAY TWO

Hello again, here we are Apple Pumpkin day two. We started the morning by exploring the inside of a pumpkin and learning their individual name.

With the “Pumpkin Vine Song ,” the class learned the words and sequence of the song by using our flannel props.

Okay, okay it sounds like a lot but we could not go outside, bad pollution. We had a special morning snack, pumpkin delight, Yummy!!

APPLE PUMPKIN DAY ONE

Today we all dressed up in our comfy pajamas, decorated a shiny pumpkin with each child’s photo to take home, used a giant photo mat with our friends pictures to identify each friend. We also explored the inside of a pumpkin as we used our senses to open and smell the pumpkin’s insides, pull the slimy pulp and seeds out and counted them. We read Apple and pumpkin books, sang “Pumpkin Vine,” and indulged in a special “Apple Pie” snack. What a treat!

Block Area

Our program is a child center environment based on our understanding of how young children learn. Our curriculum centers on the “whole child” approach and learning through play.

You might ask yourself what is my child learning when she/he is playing with blocks.

Science and math: they discover that one long block is equal to two short blocks ( proportions, fractions). Match block shapes to shelf label (spatial sense). Make patterns ( square, square, triangle, triangle and so on.

Language and literacy: Learn vocabulary; shapes (cylinder, arch) comparison (taller, heavier), talk about structure before, during and after.

Social and emotional: rebuild after a block tower falls (self confidence, perseverance), put away blocks when finished building (self regulation, sense of community).

HAPPY 20th BIRTHDAY PASADENA CHRISTIAN PRE-SCHOOL

How many children have been in our care since the beginning of our grand opening? Too many to count. 🥰Our first students are either entering college or entering a promising career. We celebrate and thank all the parents and spiritual leaders who helped guide their future and Plant a strong Christian seed.

On this 2020 school year many things are challenging us CovinaVirus, fires and earthquakes but with God’s will and grace we are standing strong. State regulation allowed us to open our doors with half of our classroom ratio and slowly we will be getting back to our full capacity. The children who are joining us are happy to be here exploring, learning our classroom routine, getting to know each other and learning about personal space 🙂. They are two, even as adults we are still learning about personal space.😀
