Spread Your Wings and Fly Butterflies!

It finally happened. Our tiny caterpillars have fled their nest and set out into the big, open world. Ever since we got our caterpillars, we have been anticipating the day that they would turn into butterflies. We sang songs about butterflies, created butterfly art and even learned the meaning of the words metamorphosis and chrysalis. We are all saddened by the fact that we had to let the butterflies go; however, we are thankful for the time that we spent with them.

Welcome Spring!

Room 3 welcomes spring with open arms and open hearts. We kicked off the new season with a variety of activities from painting butterflies and flowers to learning about dance. Also, a spontaneous interest in volcanoes led us to create our very own volcano in our yard. With some vinegar, food coloring, and baking soda, we were able to replicate a colorful lava flow! We have a lot of different things to look forward to as the year progresses, so keep an eye out for the next blog post.

Exploring Travel Town

Room 3 had a fantastic two days at the Travel Town Museum. The trips went smoothly and the children had a blast seeing different kinds of trains and train parts in person. Throughout the trip, the children played a game of bingo while walking around the park. There was still a lot to do by the time we left, so parents, make sure you bring your kids back! Thank you to all the parents who were able to come and we cannot wait for our next field trip.

Blueberry Pancakes and Trains

We had a fantastic week making scrumptious pancakes and building grand train tracks with our new train toys. As our field trip to the train station draws closer, we are excited to see how invested and interested the children are when it comes to learning about trains and playing with trains. In addition, we are also learning about an American folk hero and train track hero named John Henry!

Squishy Squeezy Slime!

Last week we had the opportunity to make Gak, also known by the kids as slime. It is a glue based polymer substance that was and still is popular with the children. As a matter of fact, it’s pretty fun for the teachers in Room 3 as well. Be sure to be careful if you attempt to make this at home because just like glue, it will stick but it won’t come off easily.

Happy New Year and Welcome to 2018!

It’s a brand new year and that means new adventures for us in Room 3. However, that doesn’t mean we should forget the end of 2017. As an acknowledgement to end of the year, please enjoy the Happy Birthday Jesus performance and the other various picture of activities and fun that was had.

Room 3’s First Trip to the Farm!

Room 3 had a spectacular time at the farm. It was our first time there and hopefully it won’t be the last because we loved the shows, animals and activities. The children were exhausted by the end of the day and were reluctant to leave due to how much fun they were having. Thank you to Underwood Farm and all of their employees for making our field trip an incredibly enjoyable one.

Happy Apple and Pumpkin Day!

Although it was our first time participating in Apple and Pumpkin Day, we had an amazing time. The day was packed with fun activities, smiles and laughter. We would like to thank all the parents that contributed and helped out!
