News and Reminder 2026

We are excited for an entirely new season of fun at preschool: Hello Spring!

Easter Cross Decorating

Help us celebrate the resurrection and add to the decoration of our preschool throughout April as we observe and honor the significance of Good Friday and Easter Sunday by adding a flower to our preschool cross in the parking lot.

Everyone is invited to bring a flower to place on our cross. Please stop by and gently tuck your special floral donation into the ropes that entwine it.

Preschool Chapel – Thursday, April 2nd

Our Fruit of the Spirit for April is Faithfulness. What a perfect fruit to reflect God’s plan and promise through His Son, Jesus Christ. We will read and discuss what transpired on Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday.

45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45

Good Friday – Friday, April 3rd – PRESCHOOL CLOSED

As we reflect on the sacrifice and meaning of Good Friday, we remember…

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:10

He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:2

Easter Sunday – Sunday, April 5th

24On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’” Then they remembered his words. Luke 24:1-8

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Matthew 28:5-6

Hallelujah, He is risen!!

Easter Monday – Monday, April 6th – PRESCHOOL CLOSED

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:16-20

Week of the Young Child – Monday, April 6th – Friday, April 10th

Every year, we celebrate the wonderful children we serve and the unique world they inhabit with exciting, week-long festivities. Each day will have its own theme and special events to look forward to. This week is a national celebration that emphasizes the importance of this fundamental and transformative stage of life. Oh, to be a young child! Parents are welcome to participate and volunteer; please check with your class to see how you can get involved.

If you have already signed up, look for more camp-specific information over the months ahead.

As we cruise toward the end of the year, we wanted to share a few helpful hints, reminders, and requests.

DOORS & KIDS Many of our kids want to be helpful by opening doors; this is great if a parent or teacher is nearby, but it can be risky if they aren’t. Our goal is to prevent accidents or injuries.

When dropping off or picking up, please make sure you are with your child before they try to open or go through any of our doors, especially those leading to our parking lot.

SIGNING IN – As a state-licensed facility, we are required to obtain physical signatures from parents and guardians at drop-off and pick-up. Please make sure you sign in and out each day. The preschool will be held responsible and may be fined for any missing signatures.

PLAYING AT PICK-UP, CLASSROOM RATIOS, AND TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES – When picking up at the end of the day, please be mindful of the other students and teachers who may still be present in the environment.

Our wonderful staff is legally responsible for the children currently signed in for the day. However, due to ratios and safety concerns, they cannot supervise children who have signed out, especially if they are from a different class. That is why we ask adults to limit their time in classrooms and when passing through our outdoor spaces, patios, and yards.

Additionally, as a licensed facility, we are not allowed to let older or younger siblings who aren’t enrolled in the preschool play in our environment during our normal hours. While siblings can come for drop-off and pick-up, they must always stay with an adult in the preschool.

Families are welcome to spend some time in the lobby to visit the turtles, browse or borrow a book from our lending library, check out the “Zany Zoo” on your way out, or enjoy the swing. When using the swing, please be mindful of the parking lot and cross traffic.

Friendly Reminders 2026

Just a friendly reminder of our Preschool Parking Lot Rules/Requests

As everyone knows, our parking lot, like our children, is small and very active. It requires patience and courtesy to ensure the safety of all our families and little ones. Here are some important things to keep in mind:

  • Busiest Times: The peak drop-off time is from 8:00 a.m. to 8:40 a.m. To avoid traffic, please consider dropping off your child before 8:00 a.m. or after 8:40 a.m.
  • Quick Drop-Offs: We have limited parking and many families, so please keep morning drop-offs quick.
  • Avoid Double Parking: Even if you are in a rush, please do not double-park, as it blocks others in and compounds parking issues.
  • Street Parking: If possible, consider parking on the street during peak drop-off and pick-up times to help alleviate congestion in the parking lot.
  • Child Safety: Children should stay on the sidewalk during pick-up and drop-off, except when accessing their vehicles. It’s important to remember that little ones can be difficult to see between cars.
  • Set a Good Example: Courtesy counts! We are setting an example for the children, so let’s all work together to model wonderful behavior.

Thank you for helping us keep our little ones safe, healthy, and happy!

News and Reminders 2026

Can you believe that it’s already March? We are about to spring into spring and can hardly wait to see what hatches around the preschool.

Dr. Seuss’ Birthday – Monday, March 2nd

Did you know Dr. Seuss wrote Green Eggs and Ham using only 50 words? Published in 1960, the book originated from a wager between Bennett Cerf, Random House’s publisher and co-founder, and Theodor Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss. “Bennett Cerf bet me I couldn’t write a book with 50 words or fewer, and I wanted to show him that I could,” said Dr. Seuss.

Over the past 60 years, Dr. Seuss’s books and stories have shaped and continue to influence early childhood literature. We will celebrate him and his contributions at preschool by reading several of his books this month. Thank you, Dr. Seuss, for igniting our imaginations and love of rhyme and introducing us to the worlds within books.

Preschool Chapel – Friday, March 6th

Our Fruit of the Spirit for March is gentleness. We will explore what it means to be gentle and read the Parable of the Lost Sheep. Since it is March, we will also discuss St. Patrick, his ministry, and how he used the clover to illustrate the nature of the Trinity, three in one. Chapel is always a wonderful time spent together in worship, fellowship, and praise of the Lord.

Teacher In-Service Day – Friday, March 13th – STUDENT FREE

It’s time for a teacher in-service day. These days are essential, as they provide the time we need for training, planning, preparation, and cleaning that cannot be done while the children are on campus. We are grateful for these opportunities to grow and enhance everything we do in service to the children and their families.

A special thank-you to Dr. Jade Starleaf for leading a teacher training session with our staff. We are so grateful and very excited to learn from Dr. Jade.

Please let us know if you need your picture taken by stopping by the front desk. On Tuesday and Thursday, friends are also welcome to drop by and have their pictures taken!

St. Patrick’s Day – Monday, March 17th

With a touch of the blarney, we will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year with leprechauns, shamrocks, and so much more. The story of St. Patrick is also an excellent time to talk about the call to spread the gospel to the world.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

Mid-Year Developmental Profiles

Classrooms have sent out our mid-year reports via email for all the kiddos. Be sure to take a look. Teachers will happily chat with parents who want to discuss the year’s progress and future.

News and Reminders 2026

We adore the month of love and look forward to all the exciting things that will happen over the next four weeks!

Preschool Chapel – Thursday, February 5th

It is the month of love, and we focus on where love comes from. After all, G.O.D. is L.O.V.E. We look forward to coming together to worship and celebrate God’s love for each of us and our love for Him and for each other.

1 John 4:7-12

BOOK CLUBSHelp our readers grow.

This February, during the month of love, we warmly invite you to join us in celebrating our passion and love for literature!

We are thrilled to announce another exciting opportunity for all members of our community to enhance their home libraries as we expand our preschool collection.

This is also a wonderful opportunity for families to check in with their own teachers and ask what books they believe will enrich the learning experience of the young minds in their classrooms. This collaborative effort helps foster a lifelong love for reading in all our children.

Don’t miss out on discovering new stories and resources that will not only delight but also inspire curiosity and creativity. Plus, when you shop through our Clubs, you support our school because your orders earn points redeemable for books and other preschool classroom supplies.

Orders due date: Friday, February 13th, 2026

Valentine’s Day Parties – Thursday, Feb. 12th & Friday, Feb 13th

Each classroom will celebrate the holiday with special festivities on both Thursday, February 12th, and Friday, February 13th. Please keep an eye out for classroom-specific details about what they’ll be doing. This includes how each classroom will handle Valentine’s Day favors.

Here are a few quick suggestions…

  • Avoid edible treats. Instead, themed pencils, crayons, erasers, stickers, or other small items would make a great gift.
  • Simple and small is always best.
  • On the cards, sign – To: My Friend         From: Your Child’s Name
  • Due to flux schedules, not all the kids know each other, but it is easier to give to everyone than to figure out who comes on which day. The classrooms will provide a total headcount for each room.
  • Avoid the “Boy/Girl” Valentine trap. Allow your child to choose the Valentins they wish to give, rather than worrying about how many boys and girls there are. The kids get so much more from the reflected diversity of their peers’ interests and what they want to give.
  • There is no obligation to give out Valentine’s cards/treats, but you are welcome to participate as you see fit.

Presidents’ Day – Mon., Feb. 16thPRESCHOOL CLOSED

While we don’t typically do a deep study of American history or civics as a part of the preschool experience, we are happy to celebrate two of our nation’s most influential leaders and the role presidents play in shaping and guiding our country.

Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair; the rest is in the hands of God.George Washington

My concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right. Abraham Lincoln

Picture Days – Thurs., Feb. 20th & Fri, Feb. 21st

It is time to capture those adorable preschool smiles once again! Preschool Picture Days have arrived.

The preschool will host School Pictures from Julie Lilly Photography on Thursday, February 19th, and Friday, February 20th Please look out for more information from your child’s teachers about which day has been assigned to you.

Families will receive an envelope for their child’s picture purchase the week prior to Picture Days (February 9th-13th). Please complete and return to the preschool office on or before Picture Day.

Please let us know if you have any questions; we are happy to help!!

Elks Vision Screening – Tuesday, Feb. 24th & Wednesday, Feb. 25th

The Elks Vision Screening is a free service available for preschool children in California and Hawaii. The screening will take place on campus in the Art Studio as a special event for our students. Teachers will assist by guiding students throughout the screening process. All children aged 3 years and older (in Rooms 1, 2, 3, and 4) will participate unless otherwise instructed. If you do not wish for your child to participate in this program, please inform the Front Desk.

Informational Vision Screen Flyers will be available at the preschool front desk beginning the week of February 16th.

PCS Orchestra Visit – Thursday, Feb. 26th

The “Big Kids” will be visiting the preschool to perform a special concert just for us! We’re always so excited to host the PCS Orchestra students, listen to their performances, and learn about their instruments. Especially since some of them used to be our preschoolers, too. From preschoolers to instrumentalists—something for our current kiddos to look forward to as they prepare to move up to the elementary campus one day.

Staying Healthy at Preschool

We want to thank all of our families for their support and understanding as we navigate the winter months and the challenges of keeping our preschool healthy and safe. A few things to keep in mind…

If you notice your child is under the weather or showing signs of illness, please exercise caution, keep them home, and monitor their condition. While most preschool illnesses are common and pass quickly, some are much more concerning, such as RSV.

State regulations also remind us that children may not attend school if they have had a fever, vomited, or had diarrhea in the last 24 hours. This means that if your child experiences any of these conditions, they must stay home from school the following day and may return the day after. For example, if they have a fever on Monday, the potential first day back would be Wednesday. The same standard applies if a child is sent home from school for any of these issues.

Please know that our team will be monitoring our kiddos, and we will contact families if we spot signs or symptoms while they’re on campus. Conversely, we appreciate parent support in our staff’s discernment regarding a child’s presence at school. Often, a doctor may clear a sick child to return to school, but they may still have minor symptoms, such as a lingering cough or runny nose.

Our team greatly appreciates parent notification when their child is out due to illness. It’s essential for tracking, informing other families if needed, and potentially preventing further spread. Those notifications also give us peace of mind and allow us to keep you in our prayers.

Summer Camp Registration

We are already thinking about those fun, sun-filled summer days, even as we enjoy all that winter (in Southern California) has to offer.

News and Reminders 2026

Happy New Year! We are so excited to be back together at preschool in 2026. Here are a few quick reminders about what we will look forward to this month.

Preschool Chapel – Friday, January 9th

This month’s chapel will focus on the Magi’s visit and revisit the details of the nativity story. Often, we see depictions of the Magi worshiping Jesus in the stable, but it actually took them an additional year to find Him. We look forward to exploring the story and uncovering additional details about their significant arrival and the gifts they bring.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day – Mon., January 19th – PRESCHOOL CLOSED

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, observed annually on the third Monday in January, honors the life and legacy of the iconic civil rights leader. Dr. King’s commitment to justice, equality, and nonviolence led to transformative change in American society, inspiring generations to fight for civil rights and social justice. The holiday serves as a reminder of his enduring message that progress is achieved through unity, peaceful action, and a deep commitment to justice for all. It is a day for reflection, education, and community service as we continue to work toward the ideals Dr. King championed.

At the preschool, we approach the concept of social justice at an age-appropriate level by acknowledging the meaningful contributions of historical figures such as MLK and, more specifically, by reflecting on the love and nature of God. God teaches us that we are all created in His image (Gen. 1:26), that we are all one in Christ Jesus (Eph. 5:21), that we are called to stand for others (Prob. 31:8-9), and most importantly, to love God and each other. (Matt. 22:37-39, John 15:12).

Farm Day – Friday, January 23rd

Here at last!

Rooms 1, 2, & 3 will be going on our traditional fall now winter field trip to Underwood Family Farm; yay!

Snow Days – Wed, Jan. 28th & Thurs., Jan. 29th

We are excited to announce that it is time for our annual “Snow Days!” Starting Wednesday, January 28th, we are turning the yard into a winter wonderland with snow! The snow will be provided by an external company, Arctic Glacier, which specializes in snow/ice events. Each classroom will have an opportunity to explore the frosty fun as an extension of their classroom’s yard time.

We recommend bundling up your little ones on those days and sending snow-appropriate clothes, footwear, and extra clothes to change into after the event.

*This event will be postponed if the forecast calls for rain on either of our planned days.

FUN RUN – Friday, January 30th – MINIMUM DAY

The preschool is thrilled to participate in this year’s FUN RUN event!

WHEN: Fri., Feb. 2nd from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

WHERE: The PCS Field

Our Tuesday/Thursday friends are welcome to join us with a parent for the event.

All participants will receive a special FUN RUN shirt to wear on the event day. To prevent any issues with the T-shirts, classrooms will retain them and assist children in putting them on the day of the event. Friends attending on Tuesday or Thursday will have the option to take their T-shirts home on Thursday.

Parents are welcome to join us for the FUN RUN by arriving at the preschool before the event and walking over with the kids or by signing in at the main campus front office and meeting us at the field. MVP Hours are available for help at the FUN RUN.
