Stone soup is a classic folk story that teaches the value of cooperation and generosity. In the story, a hungry traveler arrives at a village, and seeing that everyone is hesitant to share their food, he cleverly boils a simple stone in a pot of water, claiming it’s a delicious stone soup. Curious villagers contribute ingredients to enhance the soup, and together, they create a hearty meal. The story highlights how individual contributions, no matter how small, can come together to benefit the whole community. It’s a wonderful way to illustrate the importance of teamwork, sharing, and the idea that everyone’s participation can make something special.
The children in Room 3 all brought an ingredient and saw the bounty grow on our stone soup. We enjoyed eating it all up these past 2 days. A huge thank you to all the parents that came in to help the children cut veggies and make the soup.
We had a wonderful time celebrating our annual Stone Soup Days! Thank you to all our families for providing ingredients, sides, and treats—your generosity made our celebration so special.
We’re excited to share that Room 2 won “Best Soup” in our preschool’s soup contest!
A special thank you to Ari’s dad and Mariah’s mom for volunteering, reading to our class, and helping cook and serve our soup. We are so grateful.
Along with our celebration, the children enjoyed playing together in the big field and yard, adding even more fun to our days.
We had a wonderful time together. Wishing all our families a blessed Thanksgiving!
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18
As we approach the Christmas season, consider giving the gift of books. They make fantastic presents, whether you’re adding to your child’s personal library or sharing with others. A book is a gift that keeps on giving.
When you shop through our Clubs, you also support our school, as your orders earn points that can be redeemed for books and other classroom supplies for the preschool.
Here’s how it works: We’ll send home flyers like these throughout the year (either physically or digitally). If you choose to place an order, you can do so via our preschool ordering page. Your books will arrive at school about 10 days after I submit our preschool order.
By working together with Scholastic, we’ll help your child develop a love of books, nurture early literacy and pre-reading skills—and build a classroom library that all our students are excited to explore!
We’ve been all over the place this week: outside soaking up the sun on Ms. Gwen’s and Ms. Liah’s patio; running around on the big field; and visiting our campus library for the very first time!
Here we have a small group activity where our students practice drawing ovals, circles, and lines, and predominantly ovals. They were asked probing questions like: what shape is an oval? (General answers from students: “A long circle!” or “A football!”). Ms. Alyisa ran this activity and had fun drawing her own pictures to inspire the kids. (See sun with sunglasses for reference.) Much fruitful thought and conversation was had!
Here’s another small group activity featuring porridge! AKA oatmeal. This activity was a blast and they loved oatmeal! If your child asks for oatmeal, ask Alyisa for the recipe. She used maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, and lots of love.
The kids got to measure out oats and milk, pour, and mix.
This is an outdoor activity set up by Ms. Liah. This sensory bin merely started with hay and soil, and now it’s an ecosystem! The kids found some carrots from last week’s Carrot Hunt activity and added it to this new one. The kids added bugs, animals, and more.
Everything below was captured out on Ms. Gwen’s patio. She always does such a fine job thinking up projects and cute crafts for our young minds. Thank you, Ms. Gwen!
The letter of the week is G! For the past few weeks, Ms. Gwen has had capital and lowercase letters of the week out on the writing center with little pictures of things that start with that letter and some glue. If you zoom in, you can see mini goats, gorillas, and geese. So clever!Farm Bingo! Farm Day will be here soon and she is preparing our students for it!Self explanatory.Ms. Gwen and some of the students making a bridge out of items from around the playground! A few trials were had before it became functional. They were losing their minds! Childlike wonder, am I right?
And finally, our rainy day play! Rainy day schedule is kind of difficult for them, and us teachers! No outside time, no running or yelling or soaking up sunshine. But Room 1 did an excellent job today, going with the flow, reading many stories and playing along with one another.
We started practicing our Happy Birthday Jesus song with Room 2 this week!
Below are more photos. Consult your child for more details!

As adults, we’re so immune to everything (“we’ve seen it all”) but these kids are experiencing everything for the first time! They truly have a wonder about them that we are severely lacking. Oh, that God has given us children to remind us how great life and creation is!
Greetings everyone! We had a month full of fun activities, but the way we celebrated the end of October was with Apple-Pumpkin days.
The children stepped into the role of sous chefs and helped us make tasty apple and pumpkin themed treats. In room 3, we made Apple and pumpkin parfaits. The children crushed graham crackers for the crust, scooped the filling onto the crust, and enjoyed the parfaits as a class.
We enjoyed the parents that came to volunteer as head chefs, and we are very grateful for their help. Until next year!
We are excited to join forces with Samaritan’s Purse for Operation Christmas Child once again this year! Informational flyers have been distributed in the parent mailboxes, and we encourage you to contribute by bringing completed boxes to the Thanksgiving Tree in the preschool lobby. Together, we can share the message of God’s love and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children around the world!
We’re excited to share that Room 2 has been assigned to display our art projects in the preschool lobby for the month of November! Our young artists have been busy creating some adorable little turkeys, and we can’t wait for you to see their work. Be sure to stop by the lobby and check out their finished turkeys!
We have chosen some new table top and small group activities, all of which will serve to improve our students gross and fine motor skills, including, but not limited to, free water color painting, Legos, and spelling the letters of their names in table salt.
And speaking of spelling the letters of their names, Ms. Kira has set out sign-in sheets for our kids to practice recognizing and tracing their own name in the mornings when parents first come in to drop off their kids. They’ll find their names directly behind the sign-in area.
All this in preparation for kindergarten. We want nothing less than for our students to leave here ready for and able to succeed in kindergarten.
Here’s the sensory activity with table salt. Above you’ll find Ms. Alyisa’s Pink Unicorns using one finger to draw the first letter of their names. Purple Dragons patterning and completing an HEA activity with Ms. Kira.Turquoise Butterflies drawing things that start with the letter G with Ms. Ray.
We’re fostering the spirit of curiosity in our students, not snuffing it out. Their creativity and imaginative are encouraged. As you can see, there are no boundaries, no barriers, no wrong answers.
Things to ask your child today:
What shapes or things did you draw in the “white sand” today?
What did you do in Ms. Kira’s group?
In your journal, what did you draw that starts with the letter G?
What are some words or things that start with the letter G?
Two enjoyable days for our mini chefs, we made apple pie in a cup for Thursday and pumpkin pie in a cup for Friday. OOOH, Lala!
We smashed and crushed our graham crackersWe filled the cup with crackers on the bottomFollowed by apple pie filling Then Oooh, Lala!
