In Room 2, we painted and built an airplane! Our dramatic play area transformed into an airport and we integrated a few thematic elements into our classroom activities, small groups and books we read.

Some of the fun roles our room 2 friends took on in our airport included: pilot, air traffic control, airport employee and traveler!

In our math small group, we played a fun number recognition game. We rolled the dice, counted dots and flew to the “cloud” with the corresponding number.

This is an example of emergent curriculum. When we returned from Christmas break, our friends were discussing travel so we facilitated fun ways for them to keep the conversation going. We built on their experience and knowledge of the world around them. They piloted our play and this is where we landed!
