Help us grow our preschool library as you grow your own.
The preschool is excited to partner with Scholastic Book Clubs again this school year! It’s a fantastic way to expand your child’s home book collection and strengthen their early literacy and book-handling skills. When you shop through Clubs, your orders earn points we can redeem for books and other classroom supplies for the preschool.
Here’s how it works: We’ll send home flyers throughout the year (either physically or digitally). If you choose to place an order, you can do so via our preschool ordering page. Your books will arrive at school about 10 days after we submit our preschool order.
By working together with Scholastic, we’ll help your child develop a love of books, nurture early literacy and pre-reading skills—and build a classroom library that all our students are excited to explore!

Oh my gosh…we need squash!
Over the first weeks of October, we will collect pumpkins, squash, and gourds of all shapes and sizes in the preschool lobby and create our own Preschool Pumpkin Patch!
If you would like to contribute, each $20 donation counts toward 1/2 hour of MVP.
After we refresh the preschool during the Parent Site Workday on Saturday, October 10th, we will redistribute all our squash across campus, including the Outdoor Classroom and Rooms 1 through 5, as well as to our toddlers.
Thanks for donating! We can’t wait to see how big our Pumpkin Patch will become.
Preschool Chapel – Thursday, October 8th
Our second chapel of the year is here! For our first chapel together, we focused on the Creation Story. Now we’re moving on to Adam and Eve and discussing the power of choices, consequences, and God’s love.
Parent Site Workday – Saturday, October 10th
WE NEED YOUR HELP! Parent Site Work Day is just around the corner; don’t miss your chance to help our preschool, build community, and earn MVP hours.
You can participate in two ways this year.
- Donate materials/supplies.
(Every $20 spent is worth 1/2 hr. of MVP.)
2. Help at the event.
(Psst…volunteering to work at this event is worth double hours. Work 2 and receive 4.

The Hear Center – Tuesday, October 13th
The Hear Center will be at the preschool to offer FREE hearing checks for our students. Families will have the opportunity to sign up by filling out a permission slip. Use the link below to access a PDF of the permission slips; hard copies are available at the preschool front desk.
The PCS elementary campus is also hosting the Hear Center this October.

The Great ShakeOut – Thursday, October 15th
Once again, the preschool will take part in the Great California ShakeOut. This will be a full-scale earthquake drill that includes practicing “Bunnies in the Hole,” our “duck & cover” drill, and gathering on the main campus with TK through 8th grade for an official headcount.
The preschoolers will meet in our parking lot, then walk to the large grassy field, where we will read books, sing songs, and maybe have a snack before returning to the preschool campus to finish our day.
Teacher In-Service Day – Friday, October 16th – STUDENT FREE
It is time for a teacher-in-service day. These days are essential and give us the necessary time for training, planning, preparation, and cleaning that can’t be done while the children are on campus. We appreciate these opportunities to grow and improve everything we do in service of the children and families.
Candid Student Photos – Tues., Oct. 20th & Wed., Oct. 21st
They’re back! We will once again take candid photos of all the kids at preschool this year. These photos differ from traditional school photos because they aim to capture the kids in action. Our photographer, Adrea Scheidler, is a PCS mom with extensive experience capturing those adorable preschool smiles. After the photos are taken, Ms. Adrea will provide families with individual links to view and purchase photos.
Thursday, October 22nd
MINIMUM DAY – NOON DISMISSAL
Our first day of Parent Conferences will be a minimum day with a noon dismissal. If you will be at school on Thursday, please arrive promptly at pickup, as our first conference will start at 12:15 p.m.
Parent-Teacher Conferences – Thursday, Oct. 22nd & Friday, October 23rd
Fall Conferences are here! This is a great opportunity for families to meet with their classroom teaching team to discuss their student, what we’ve accomplished so far, and plans for the coming days. Police Officer Visit – Tuesday, October 27th @ 10 a.m.
Officer Hilda is coming for a visit! She will teach us about what the police do, how to call 911 for help, and tips for staying safe, among other topics. When she visited last time, she also brought McGruff the Crime Dog and a motorcycle officer. We can’t wait to see what she has for us this year.
Cougar Camp Out – Saturday, October 24th & Sunday, October 25th
An Unforgettable Night of Faith, Family, and Fellowship
The PCS Cougars Campout is an overnight family experience designed to foster deeper relationships, spiritual connection, and fun for our PCS community. Whether you’re a seasoned camper or not, this event offers something for everyone; no experience necessary!

Speech and Language Screenings – Thursday, October 29th
Speech-language pathologists from Jabberdogs will provide screenings for receptive and expressive language, voice, articulation, and fluency at the preschool. If you are interested in having your child participate in the screening, a $35 fee and a completed permission slip are required. Apple Pumpkin Days – Thursday, October 29th – Friday, October 30th
Our annual Apple Pumpkin Days celebration is approaching. During the last week of October, we will celebrate this year’s harvest with special themed books, activities, and treats. Watch for emails from your classroom teachers or Room Parents with ways you can support this fun fall event.
Mosquitoes and Other Bugs at the Preschool
Recently, we have seen a sharp increase in bug and mosquito activity on campus. Our Environmental Services team has been working hard to address the issue by spot-treating when appropriate and calling on the experts for help.
ECOLA, Pasadena Christian School’s pest management company, has been spraying the campus biweekly for the past couple of months. While we treat our own campus, we don’t control what happens on our neighbors’ properties or what might fly over our walls.
We recommend using child-safe bug repellents before school, such as No-Bit-Me Natural Bug & Insect Repellent or Murphy’s Naturals Lemon Eucalyptus spray. Bug repellent stickers are also a popular option with families.
Our staff is doing all it can to combat the bug issue, and we are praying that we see an improvement soon.
Communication – Emails, phone calls, Procare messages…
We work hard to stay connected and will do our best to respond to parental communications within our regular hours, which are from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. While parents are welcome to send emails, Procare messages, or leave voicemails at any time, our staff will respond once they are on campus, except in emergencies.

Older Pod Field Trip to Underwood Family Farms – Friday, November 20th
Mark your calendars! Rooms 1, 2, & 3 will be going on our traditional fall field trip to Underwood Family Farm this year, yay! This is a great trip and we can’t wait. More information will be sent out as we approach the trip.
Rooms 4, 5, and Toddlers will enjoy Farm Days on-site with special animal guests.
**With El Niño on the way, we‘ll watch the weather closely and postpone our trip and on-site activities if rain becomes an issue.
