We had a wonderful visit today from the firefighters of Station 38. They brought out their truck and gear to show us how it all worked. The kids were thrilled! We can’t thank our local heroes enough for all they do and for spending time with us.

Apple Picking on the Patio

A little gross motor, a little fall fun—On the older pod patio we are “picking apples.” This gross motor activity challenges our friends to practice balance and coordination!
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up…” 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Collaborative Collages on the Patio

Collaborative work is so important for healthy development. When we collaborate we— practice being flexible, learn to share space and materials, reduce environmental waste and build community with our peers! On the patio, we worked together to create some fall nature collages. Stop by the patio to check out our beautiful collaborative creations!

“Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body…” 1 Corinthians 12:12-13
Itsy Bitsy Spider on the Patio

Our older pod friends are enjoying some itsy bitsy (and some not-so-itsy-bitsy) spiders at the water table this week! It’s a sensory experience that ties in literacy—language development and story-telling fun.

Patio Play
Rm 2 visits Mobile Tide Pools
The kiddos had a great time when Captain Carl came to visit! He brought his mobile tide pool friends. He explained how these wonderful sea creatures are created by God. Afterwards, the kids got to touch and even hold some of them!

Summer on the Patio

Summer Fun in the Sun is off to a great start on the Older Pod Patio! At the water table, we’re working on fine motor—pouring, twisting on and off bottle caps and other practical skills. We’re also mixing primary colors to create secondary colors. This fun, hands on experience is the best way to build knowledge of color concepts.

We have also been Walking the Plank to practice balance and coordination. This on theme, gross motor activity has all our friends trying to keep their little toes safe from the sharks below. Our bodies and imaginations are working!

Painting, water beads, peg boards, dramatic play grotto, and so much more have all our friends exploring and growing together and it’s only week 2!

Checkout a few of our Room 3 friends taking a break from cooking in our dramatic play grotto to have a jam session on our pots and pans! This is a great demonstration of creative play— these friends found an alternative purpose for our materials and seized the opportunity to explore sound. They’re sharing space and materials effectively and developing an understanding of rhythm and music!
Patio Fun in the Sun
We are ready for some fun in the sun! The older pod enrichment patio is an extension of rooms 1, 2 and 3– our three year olds, young fours and our pre-kindergarteners. Our littles are given the opportunity to flow in and out of their classrooms during their free choice play time. This gives them plenty of options to explore areas that peak their individual interests. Check out some of the play centers ready for our campers to enjoy!

We are looking forward to a fun summer full of water play, sensory exploration, building, bonding and growing in Jesus’ love for us!
Farewell From the Patio
As we end our final week of the school year, our friends on the older pod patio tie up loose ends in their PCS Business Office. They enjoy typing, stamping, making phone calls and, of course, exchanging money. With these little business men and businesses women hard at work, you can rest assured the final week of school ran smoothly.

Art as a Sensory Experience

Art as a sensory experience is both stimulating and soothing for preschoolers. This year, our little ones have enjoyed a ton of process art on the older pod patio.
It’s our last week of school and one of our patio activities is— ice painting! A perfect display of art and sensory colliding in a fun and messy way!
