What could be more fun than going to preschool during the day? Going at night! Dressed in pajamas, the kids (and teachers!) played flashlight hide-and-seek, had a flashlight and bubble dance party, ate pizza, then enjoyed a popcorn and a movie! We hope the parents enjoyed their night on the town, but we are pretty sure our night in was WAY more fun!!!
The friends in Room 5 have been hard at work as they grow more and more each day in their skills and abilities. Everyone’s success in potty training has skyrocketed in the past weeks! Their excitement and support of one another in their bathroom triumphs has done most of the work for us- these youngsters really know how to rally each other! We thank the Lord each day for blessing us with the happy and compassionate children who have bonded so well in this class. We owe it to their loving families that they care for themselves and others with such sincerity.
Our Valentine’s Day party was a sweet success!
And everyone remains very engaged honing their math, social/emotional, and fine motor skills in the dramatic play bakery!
We are getting ready for March with a brand new feature in our sensory table…
Green sand! The class dyed their own sensory sand green with Mrs. Erin and poured it into the sensory table. They are having a blast using the sifting scoopers to pour and measure the sand, sort through the coins and gems, and practice those early math and science foundations!
We are also integrating Bible foundations through art and storytelling. While we read about Noah’s Ark and God’s Promise at circle time, we created several beautiful rainbow murals for our classroom! We used ordering and sequencing with the song “Make God’s Rainbow Bright” to memorize the colors of the rainbow in order. We worked on color matching and building listening skills as everyone collaborated to make each rainbow.
The blessings of the Lord just keep raining down upon us, showering our classroom with love and laughter each day. As the friends in Room 5 become just that- we are blessed to see the bonds begin to form between our happy classmates and know they will cherish these friendships forever. Thank you to all the parents who have helped out so much to make this month so spectacular for these little ones at school!

Room 4 has been having a praise, worship, and prayer time before resting our heads. Our worship time has been lead by our newest teacher in the younger pod, Ms Wendy. The kiddos have looked forward to this time each day. They enthusiasticly raise their hands, close their eyes and praise Him. It is one of the most beautiful sights to behold!
This week the children were introduced to the American painter Wayne Thiebaud. Wayne is widely known for his colorful use of pastel paints in depicting commonplace objects such as cakes, pastries, hot dogs and ice cream cones. The children created their very own cake. They put their imagination hats on to become a pastry chef while painting in the colors that Wayne would have used. Wayne lives in Arizona and is 95 years old.
The children in Room 2 went on a field trip to the Discovery Cube to check out their Storyland Exhibit that featured A Snowy Day, by Ezra Jack Keats. They enjoyed a story time and activity. The story read was The Mitten, by Jan Brett. They made their own mitten to place their animals in.
The children then got to explore the exhibit.
At the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Tree the children had to match the upper case letter with the lower case letter.
For The Snowy Day. the snow crunched under their feet. They got to make snowmen and snow angels.
They learned about gardening in a Tale of Peter Rabbit.
Abuela had lots of activities in different languages. When you opened a window children sang a song in a different language. They heard Welcome in different languages and got to play with magnetic pieces on a New York landscape.
One story that was new to the teachers and children was Tuesday. It is a wordless book about a day in a town when it rains frogs! The children got to tell time on a giant clock tower and had a chance to report the news on a television.
Other stories featured were If you Give A Mouse a Cookie and Where’s Spot?
Fun was had by all and we got to end the trip with a picnic Lunch at Hansen Dam Park.
We in Room 4 have had quite a busy week! With celebrations on Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day we were quite busy little love bugs!

As you can see by our many “love”-ly posts, thoughts and feelings of love, friendship and caring for one another are in the air! Students in all the classrooms have enjoyed Valentine’s themed cooking experiences, art, crafts, stories, songs and more. Of course, the enduring theme is always how God loves us and how we can show His love to others!

Though February is half over, here are a few items to note for the remaining weeks:
Donations Needed for the Mom’s Club Preschool Fair: The preschool marketing fair will be held on the PCS campus this year. We are collecting baked goods, water bottles, and cans of soda for the participants. Please drop your items by Friday, Feb. 19th at the preschool office. MVP hours will be awarded.
Auction Baskets: The PTF is collecting auction basket items for the Golf Tournament & Dinner Auction. Items can be anything from gifts cards to local stores/restaurants, gift certificates for local goods/services/attractions, vacation opportunities, etc.
Jog-A-Thon: Join the fun and register for this year’s jog-a-thon! The preschoolers always have such a FUN time running their special track while supporting our school!
Moonlight Magic: We are SO excited about our upcoming Moonlight Magic event! Sign up now to reserve your space. The children will enjoy a pizza dinner, pajama party, and a movie while YOU enjoy a night on the town (or watching NetFlix in YOUR PJs at home!).

We’ve been having a wonderful time celebrating Valentine’s Day in Room 3. We’ve made treat bags, decorated hearts of all sizes, learned songs about love such as “Skidamarink” and “G.O.D. is L.O.V.E,” read several Valentines themed books, shared about who we love, and today we made mini heart shaped French toast with strawberry sauce. The kids had a great time punching out the hearts from the bread, while snacking on the pieces that we weren’t using, plus creating the egg, vanilla, and cinnamon custard to dip the bread in. We would like to give a special thanks to Ms. Lucia, Jacinta’s mom, for helping us out and being our master chef/cook. The project was enjoyably scrumptious.
Our “Jesus Loves Me Party” was a Valentine’s celebration centered on God’s love for us! We are so thankful for God’s unwavering love! He loves us when we make good choices and when we make bad choices as well. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners Christ died for us.” Understanding the truth about God’s love not only strengthens our relationship with Him but also strengthens our relationship with others.

Most importantly, we spent the day LOVING each other!

Weather has been the focus of our discussions, experiments, and art projects for the month of January.
In our science small group and in our classroom library, we have been learning what clouds are made of.
To really understand these systems as a whole, we created our own demonstration of the water cycle.
We also graphed our favorite weather…
We checked out rain clouds…
…and experimented with rainbow rain clouds!
We created a cloud in a jar (using hot water, hairspray, and ice)…
…and were AMAZED!
We wove our clouds together…
and created our own storms!
Even in our very mild Los Angeles winter, we are so thankful for God’s sovereignty over the weather EVERYWHERE.
