Big Field! ( and a little more)

This week has been a quiet one but still a fun one. The big school is on Spring Break and while the cats away the mice will play! We got to go to the Big Field on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

We took our blankets and had a nice snack on the field and Ms. Sheri read us a couple of stories and then we got to run and play!

Pinkalicious is always a favorite book to read. Ms. Sheri also read Baby Beluga and The Poky Little Puppy.
Red Light, Green Light is a favorite game for the Big Field. Although sometimes we forget that red means stop.

We also just like to run and chase each other. I don’t know who is more tired at the end, the kids or the teachers.

This week we have been very focused on birthday parties. So in the sandbox we have decided that it is everyone’s birthday and we had the biggest party ever!

While this week has been so much fun, we can’t even imagine how much fun next week will be when we celebrate The Week of the Young Child. Each day will have its own exciting new theme!

Butterflies in Room 2

Room 2 welcomed caterpillars into our classroom a couple weeks ago. We used magnifying glasses to make observations, have discussions and read books about the life cycle of butterflies. This week we observed 4 butterflies emerge from their chrysalis.

Today we released our butterflies at the big field. Check out how excited our little ones were to say their joyful goodbyes!

Easter is Coming!

Easter Sunday is on April 4th and what better way to celebrate but with a party!! We danced, ate snack, wore bunny ears, made crafts and read from the Bible.

After we do morning meeting we pray before we head to snack!
We had festive tablecloths and fun snack and one little sweet treat!
We decorated big eggs and made crowns!
Outside we painted fake flowers and one of the teachers brought their pet bunny. Hello Pancake!
We loved wearing our bunny ears inside the classroom! Thanks Ms. Sheri!
We danced until we dropped!

We had such a fun time with the eggs and the bunnies and the chicks but we all know that the real reason we celebrate Easter is because of Jesus and his never ending love.

We are so fortunate to be able to celebrate in all the big ways and little ways too! Happy Easter to all!

He is RISEN!

Happy Spring! Room 2 has welcomed the new season with fun caterpillar observations, spring focused art and much more!

To celebrate Easter we hosted The Last Lunch. Our friends in Room 2, collaborated to create the menu for a very special meal. Just as Jesus sat down with his disciples for The Last Supper, we enjoyed our last meal together before Easter.

Easter is a wonderful time to look toward the cross as a reminder of Jesus’ love and sacrifice but thankfully, at PCS, everyday is full of reminders, stories, conversations and prayers that teach us who Jesus is and what He’s done for us.

Mr. Yorlin and his bunny Pancake even stopped by for an Easter visit!

A Special Guest

Mr. Yorlin brought his pet bunny “Pancake” from home. In class we sat around in circle and instructed the kids to use two fingers and gently pet the bunny. The kids patiently waited for their name to be called, they were very excited, used their listening ears, gentle hands and followed directions on how to pet “Pancake.”

“IS NOT ABOUT THE BUNNY”

On the week of March 15- 19 we read a”The True King,” John 13: 3-30 from our Bible. We used the little figures from the resurrection egg Easter story as a visual aid to assist the children in retelling us the story of Easter. On the following week we displayed all the pieces on the table the kids got to touch, identify and re- cap the story to use
We made cross impressions on the easel, painted flower bottle stamps and dyed eggs.
For our special morning snack we made egg salad which we ate with crackers a tiny cupcake and grapes.
May you and your family be blessed as you celebrate the true meaning of Easter.

EASTER IN CLASS#4

Indoor egg discovery. Discovering what was inside the eggs was the main focus and important task for our little friends in class. But as teaches we planned this activity with different skills our little children can gain from it. For example; recalling items in a group, back and forth conversation, spacial awareness, recognize colors and shapes.
