Snow Day!
Our first snow day was a blast, even though it was 89Β°!
Snow Days 2022!
Snow Days β Thurs., Feb. 10th & Fri., Feb. 11th
Our Snow Days have arrived at last and we are so excited! The forecast for Pasadena Christian Preschool is calling for snow and 88 degree weather.
What should my preschooler wear to play in the snow and heat?
That is a wonderful question! We recommend wearing boots or other water resistant shoes with good grip and clothes that can get wet. Full snowsuits and heavy jackets arenβt necessary but snow pants and gloves are welcome.
Please also be sure to send a weather appropriate change of clothes for after our snowy adventures.
A new location for our preschool blizzard.
Last year we hosted our Snow Days in the preschool parking lot. This year we have decided to shift the snow fall into our play yard and the woodchip area. We wanted to maximize the amount of time the kiddos get to explore the snow/ice. Especially since it took about a week to completely melt. This will be the first time anything quite like this has happened in our yard and we are very curious to see how it goes.
Hip, hip, hooray for Snow Days!!
2022 News & Reminders
We adore the month of love and are looking forward to all the exciting things that will happen over the next four weeks!
Snow Days β Thurs., Feb. 10th & Fri., Feb. 11th
Starting on Thursday, February 10th, we are turning the back end of the preschool parking lot into our very own winter wonderland with actual snow! The snow will be provided by an outside company, Arctic Glacier, who specializes in snow/ice events. Each classroom will have an opportunity to explore the frosty fun as an extension of their classroomβs yard time.
We recommend bundling up your little ones on those days and sending snow appropriate clothes and footwear plus sending extra clothes to change into after the event. Each classroom will have a half hour window of time to play in the snow on both Thursday and Friday.
*This event will be postponed if the forecast calls for rain on either of our planned days.
Valentineβs Day Parties β Mon., Feb. 14th & Tues., Feb 15th
Each classroom will be celebrating the holiday with special festivities in their classrooms on both Monday, February 14th and Tuesday, February 15th. Please be sure to keep a look out for classroom specific details about what theyβll be doing. This includes how each classroom will handle Valentineβs Day favors.
Here are a few quick suggestionsβ¦
β₯Avoid edible treats. Instead, themed pencils, crayons, erasers, stickers, or other small items would be a great gift idea.
β₯Simple and small is always best.
β₯On the cards, sign β To: My Friend From: Your Childβs Name
β₯Due to flux schedules, not all the kids know each other but it makes it easier to give to everyone vs. figuring out who comes which day. The classrooms will provide a total head count for each room.
β₯Please avoid the βBoyβ/βGirlβ Valentine trap. Allow your child to select a Valentineβs they wish to give vs. worrying about who is a boy and who is a girl. The kids get so much more out of the reflected diversity of their peersβ interests and the things they like.
β₯There is no obligation to give out Valentineβs card/treats but you are welcome to participate as you see fit.
Teacher In-service Day β Fri., Feb. 18th – PRESCHOOL CLOSED
Teacher In-service Days are crucial and provided us the much needed time for training, planning, preparation, and cleaning that canβt be achieved while the children are on campus. We are grateful for these opportunities to grow and improve all that we do in service of the children and families.
Presidentsβ Day β Mon., Feb. 21st β PRESCHOOL CLOSED
While we donβt typically do a deep study of American history or civics as a part of the preschool experience, we are happy to celebrate two of our nationβs most influential leaders and the role presidents play in shaping and guiding our country.
Let us raise standard to which the wise and honest can repair; the rest is in the hands of God. β George Washington
My concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on Godβs side, for God is always right. β Abraham Lincoln
The Preschool and COVID-19
We want to thank all of our families for their support and understanding as we have navigated the challenges of keeping our preschool healthy and safe as well as open during this ongoing pandemic. This last wave of COVID-19 hit us harder than any of the previous ones and it has been a struggle for our entire preschool community. That is why we wanted to take a moment and acknowledge the deep frustrations and concerns of everyone involved.
The preschoolβs mission is to do everything in our power to serve our preschool community to the best of our ability. It is our continued prayer that God will bless us with health as well as grace us with wisdom as we seek to follow Him and the mandates set before us by state and local authorities. While it has been daunting, we know that God is in control and we can see the light ahead. This situation will improve and God will provide us with all the resources we need to persevere.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on our own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
βI have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.β John 16:33
Happy February!
We are so happy to be together again! This week, on the older pod patio, weβre enjoying a baby bubble bath activity. Check out our friends as they practice showing love to their babies, imitating all the love they have been shown by the ones who care for them.

βWe love because he first loved us.β 1 John 4:19
Weβve also been hard at work painting, moving, building and exploring! Check us out!

βLETS BUILD A SNOWMANβ
Well here we are January β2022.βWe had some rainy, cold windy weather. Our typical, normal California winter. We turned our Christmas tree into a giant snowman. We added giant eyes, a nose, and dressed him in a scarf, hat and gloves. Everyday the kids would change his looks and dressing the snowman took creativity.

GOODBYE β2021β
December was a short and busy month for us at the pre-school. The kids painted special Christmas canvas to send home for mom and dad, they made Christmas decorations to display in class, office and the big yard. We learned songs to sing for all our grandparents and for Happy Birthday Jesus. Our Bible story for the month of December was from the Beginnerβs Bible, βThe Christmas Story,β Luke 1:26-28. We reviewed the stories , sang βWay down in a manger,ββJingle bells,β and listen to many Christmas songs. Brought art, flannel stories, creative dramatic dress up and playing with little people Nativity set our class connected more with the meaning of Christmas.
Questions to ask your children: Luke 1:26-38 βWhat is the angelβs name? Gabriel.β βWhat did Gabriel tell Mary? Sheβs going to have a baby.β βWhat is the babyβs name? Jesus.β βWhat did Gabriel told Mary? With God everything is possible.β Luke 2:1-7 Baby Jesus is born: Mary and Jose went to Bethlehem. βWhat did Mary ride on to Bethlehem? Donkey.β There was no room in the Inn. βBaby Jesus was born in? Stable.β βWhere did baby Jesus sleep in? A Manger.

SNOW DAYS at PRESCHOOL!
Snow much fun!
We have been having fun in room 5 both inside and out with different kinds of βsnowβ! We have explored snow and arctic animals inside and scooping/pouring flour-snow outside on the yard. The kids have really enjoyed all the different textures both soft and cold.
