Introducing Our New Library Space

We wanted to take a moment to thank our wonderful director, Ms. Kohar for the library makeover! It is a blessing having a classroom where dreams and ideas can become a reality. Our library now has a couch, rug and even a beanbag! The best part? We are not done with remodeling just yet! Some of our kiddos enjoy starting their day in a quiet space so they come to the library to read! Plus, reading is fun!

Apple Pumpkin Day #1

Wow what a wonderful start to Apple Pumpkin Days! Today our classroom was full of red from our red tablecloths and plates to our red clothes. We decorated our fall frames and made special apple snack. We even learned what a chemical reaction was with a fun apple volcano science experiment. But our special visit by Kaira’s mommy via zoom reading us a story was the most exciting part of our day. Thank you to our wonderful parents for all your help.

Apple Eruption!

🚨 ALERT 🚨

We experienced eruptions in class today! The art table had to be evacuated! We had active apple volcanoes using vinegar, baking soda and glitter. Can’t forget the glitter! There’s nothing more exciting than witnessing some safe chemical reactions!

Pumpkin Investigators

We put on our investigator caps and studied the mysterious pumpkin. We needed to investigate the length of the pumpkin, describe the characteristics of the pumpkin and explore what was hidden in this so called pumpkin. Let me tell you, we were amazed with the discoveries made! We used cubes to measure the length of this pumpkin. We had a wide range of predictions as to how tall the pumpkin was. Soon after we concluded that our pumpkin was 11 inches tall, which was the equivalent to 15 cubes. We used some descriptive words like: large, big, higher to reach, rounded, small stem and lines. The most exciting discovery was learning that seeds sink! Who knew! Our Pumpkin Investigation was a success!

Throughout our Pumpkin investigation we asked our students some questions regarding our pumpkin. These pictures show their answers to the questions. Great job, friends 🙂

Special Guest in Room 1A

We had a very special guest today! Most of our friends got to see a very familiar face! Mrs. Gen! Some of our friends came from Room 3. This was an exciting time for them! They were able to enjoy Mrs. Gen’s Felt Board Ghost Story once again! The friends who came from Room 3 last year immediately remembered the story and those friends who heard and saw the story for the first time, will never forget it! Thank you Mrs. Gen, you rock!

Room 5’s Special Guests are the Apples of our Eyes!

We have been so blessed to have special guests virtually visit our classroom over the last couple days. The children have loved hearing stories read to us by our classroom families. Apple Pumpkin Days are the best!

Apple Pumpkin Day 2!

What an eventful morning for our little ones! We have had a dance party, made a special and yummy snack and had a special story time with Mrs. Murphy! Thank you to everyone who helped make this day special!

In Room 2, our kiddos enjoyed a virtual visit from their grown ups. Together, we read P is for Pumpkin: God’s Harvest Alphabet by Kathy-Jo Wargin and Apples and Pumpkins by Anne Rockwell.

Day 1 of Happy Apple & Pumpkin Day in Room 1A!

We had a sweet and flavorful day today. We had a special snack delivered to us for the first day of Apple and Pumpkin Day. Today’s special snack was our interpretation of an Apple Crisp. This snack consisted of crumbled Graham Crackers, apple sauce, sliced apples and whipped cream. I know, delicious! I’m sure the ‘ear-to-ear’ smiles will sum up the excitement our friends had when they saw the whipped cream gushing out of the can!

We also wanted to thank all the parents that brought pumpkins! They were finally able to paint them today! The kiddos were extremely excited to paint those pumpkins. The great part about this is that they will be able to take them home and display them over the break! We encourage all of our parents to take some time to ask them about their pumpkins. I promise you, those paintings were very intentional!

They also had some apple stamping! We cut apples in half and allowed them to use the halves as stamps to create art! That art will also be sent home for your appreciation soon!

There was one other activity we were supposed to do. We were supposed to have a station for pumpkin carving but to our surprise, EVERY seed inside had started to sprout! Insane! The inside was filled with roots, so our activity turned into a science experiment. We are now observing those seeds grow and we will see where this science experiment takes us! The kids are all forming their own predictions and hypotheses!

A Smashing Good Day!

Today, we dissected a pumpkin together! We explored the seeds and pulp for a sensory experience. We also cut out some shapes to create a jack-o-lantern. We named him Jojo!
