“GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER”

Welcome to our first weeks of school! We are very excited to have seen your children in Room 4.  Their beautiful minds are learning and exploring new things every minute. They are doing very well getting to know each other, playing, discovering and getting familiar with their surroundings, friends and teachers.

You may not see or hear any more crying, but as you know, every child is different. We had a long weekend and your child may not understand why are they coming back to school after being home for so many days. It is hard to understand why it happens but some children may or may not cry as they come back to school from the holidays. It is perfectly normal if they do cry they are processing their feelings. Don’t worry !!!!!!

During these past few days the children explored and visited many areas of play in class as well as outside.

Have a  look and see your child/children in action. 😊

Art & Literacy

The children listened to the story, “The Giving Tree”, by Shel Silverstein. This story has simple words and drawings but displays the meaning of unconditional love in a big way. We talked about how the tree was always there for the little boy, ready to serve as best as she could. We then talked about our project and how every material we were using comes from a tree. The paper, the popsicle sticks, all comes from a tree. They then created a collaged still life of apples in a basket. The compositions varied, as some had their apples inside the basket, others had the apples outside with a few inside. And one even created a spilled basket with apples rolling out. There was even a composition of “apple popsicles”. 🙂 The imagination and movement in every single piece reflects all the possibilities in this still life project.

Enjoy! Mrs. Monica

September 2017 Preschool News and Calendar of Events

Dear Parents,

What a fabulous start to the school year we have had! Your little ones are doing such a fabulous job acclimating to their new classrooms and are enjoying all the fun activities we have at preschool. We are enjoying happy days, water play, lots of free play, big field (for the older pod), and so much more! We are also very proud of our mommies and daddies who took great strides to make drop-offs short and sweet, despite a few tearful goodbyes. You have done a great job assuring your little ones that you love them and that you will be back, then handing them to the teachers and separating quickly. These short goodbyes actually reduce stress for the children and allow the kiddos to process their emotions so they can gain their confidence and independence to feel secure at school. Well done, Parents!

NEWS, NOTES & MORE

Back to School Night: A huge thank you to all who came out to Back to School Night! We appreciate your time and commitment. If you weren’t able to come, please be sure to get the packet from your child’s teacher so you can stay in the loop!

Tell Your Friends! If you love them, we’ll love them! If you have friends who are interested in enrolling for the 2018-2019 school year, online applications for next school year will be available on the PCS website in the next week or so. We have numerous applications for next year already, so tell your friends to tour, attend an Observation Day, and apply EARLY to get on our applicant list for 2018-2019. Be sure they tell us who referred them! We LOVE our word-of-mouth referrals!

Please read through these very important “housekeeping” items to help us stay safe and run smoothly…

Classroom Sign-in Logs: Per state licensing, a FULL SIGNATURE is required on our classroom sign-in logs. We can be fined for non-compliance of this, so please help us stay in compliance by signing your full signature each day.

Unattended Drop-Offs: Be sure to ONLY leave your child in the care of a teacher when dropping off. Students should never be dropped off to an empty classroom or left on the yard with another classroom. In addition, please do not let your child go ahead of you into a classroom unattended in the morning while you are checking in.

Siblings at School: Just a gentle reminder that if you bring a younger sibling to school during drop-off and pick-up, please keep them within arms reach at all times. Please do not leave them unattended on the yard, in the lobby, in the car, or in the classrooms, even if you think you will be “just a second.” We appreciate your cooperation!

Parking Lot: In a perfect world, we would have a giant parking lot with ample space for everyone. Unfortunately, our parking lot is small and hard to maneuver. To help us through the morning rush, please drive slowly, park carefully, and keep your morning drop-offs (especially between 7:50-9:00) very short. Avoid parking along the wall when possible. Believe it or not, the parking lot is nearly VACANT until about 7:47am! Come early and avoid the rush!

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Preschool Picture Day – We are currently in the process of switching vendors and securing a date for fall preschool photos. We will let you know the date soon. Note that the photo day on Sept. 8th is for the elementary school.

In-Service Day: September 29th – This is a non-student day. In-service days allow time for teacher training, resetting classrooms, school advancement, curriculum building, and so much more. On this day, teachers will be completing the new state-required Mandated Reporter Training and working on your students’ Developmental Profiles. Have a good long weekend with your Little Blessings 🙂

Site Work Day – October 21st. – DOUBLE MVP Hours available! Keep an eye out for the Site Work Day Sign-up! Help us deep clean cubbies, beautify the garden, till the sandbox, and haul in our fresh new mulch.

Moonlight Magic – There will be three Moonlight Magic events this year: Oct. 13, Feb. 2 and March 16. This is YOUR chance to have a night on the town (or in the quiet of your own home watching Netflix!) while your little ones are safe in our care enjoying flashlight parties, pajama dance-offs, pizza and a movie. Registration is required, so sign up early! Elementary-aged siblings may attend the BYH Moonlight Magic on the same night.

PARENT TEACHER FELLOWSHIP (PTF):

MVP Booklets/Hours: All families should have received their YELLOW MVP booklet. Please record your volunteer hours in these books. You can have your hours signed off by the office staff, Room Parents, volunteer coordinators of specific events, PTF Reps, etc. Every family is required to complete 10 hours (or 20 hours if you have students at the elem/jr. high) before the end of the school year. Fantastic Start to a New School Year!

The first week has come to an end and we are so glad to have you all in Room 3. The children have enjoyed playing in the yard with their new classmates, exploring what our classroom has to offer, and the activities in the patio provided by the wonderful Ms. Gwendolyn. We look forward to the new experiences we will have in the future.

Welcome To Room 2!❤️

Hi there, friends!

We are SO excited to officially welcome the 2017-2018 PreK-2 class to Room 2!🍎😊

We are blessed beyond belief to have started our year so strong already! We’ve had a fantastic week getting acquainted with each one of our new friends, and our hearts are elated at the thought of how God will move in our classroom this year. We are so expectant to see Him do amazing things in the lives of each Room 2 friend, as they learn and grow.

It’s a sincere privilege and honor to be back into the swing of things here. We simply wanted to take a minute to send out this quick message as a reminder that this blog is and will continue to be a fantastic way to stay connected with us each week. We will try to post weekly so that you are in-the-know of what goes on in our classroom.

We want you to know that even before school started we as a team prayed over our Room 2 friends and their families, and we will continue to do so as the year progresses. We hope to become like family along side you, as we get to both teach your children, as well as lead them closer to Christ. What we want and hope for is to be a team with you, to ensure the most successful year for our Room 2 Friends.
Because it’s our first week, we didn’t have much of an opportunity for very many pictures, but here are just a few that we managed to capture. We’ll check back in next week!

Sincerely,

Miss Wendy and the Room 2 Team❤️
P.S. Enjoy!☺️

Last Week of Summer!

We have had an amazing journey this summer with all of our friends in Room 3. We are saddened by the conclusion of the summer program, but we know that there are more adventures to be had in the future. We wish everybody to best and we pray you have a restful and fun remainder of the summer before school resumes in fall!

Le France ‼️

What an exciting week we had as we explored France 🇫🇷 Our children got familiar with their flag and had the chance to make one. They learned organization by keeping blue on the left and red in the right, all while learning to distinguish their colors and keeping the middle part white. We let the children extend their creativity by having wooden blocks available and an Eiffel Tower on the center of the table. From this inspiration, the children created their very own Eiffel Tower. Adding more fun for our little tourists, we made some delicious crepes😋 We are so blessed at PCS! We even had farm animals come to US! While some children preferred to admire from afar, others had the chance to go inside and touch the animals! It was such a great adventure at the big school!!

And of course, can’t forget about our weekly fun in the water 😜
