News and Reminders 2024

It is time for us to reset our clocks as we “Fall Back” by one hour. This small change will impact our kiddos, from emotional drop-offs to concerns about how dark it gets while they’re still at school. The classrooms will discuss the time change, and we are prepared to support the children as they adjust.

As it gets darker and colder earlier, we will transition from afternoons spent in the yard and on the patios to afternoons spent inside the classrooms.

Older Pod – Rm 2 for Rm 1 & 2

Younger Pod – Rm 5 for Rm 4 & 5 Friends (Rm 3 will remain in their room.)

Toddlers – Toddler A for all our toddler friends.

This month’s chapel will focus on the story of Noah’s Ark. The children adore this story and its emphasis on family, animals, and listening to God. We can hardly wait to worship and praise God together.

The preschool will be open for Veterans Day. We are thankful and eternally grateful to all the men and women who have served and are currently serving our country and the families that support them. We will honor their sacrifice and service with the kids on campus.

Older Pod Field Trip to Underwood Family Farms

Mark your calendars! Rooms 1, 2, & 3 will be going on our traditional fall field trip to Underwood Family Farm this year; yay!

Information, permission slips, and parent sign-ups will be available at the preschool front desk.

Younger Pod & Toddlers On-site Field Trip

We will continue the Harvest celebration on-site for Rooms 4, 5, and Toddlers with a visit from a few animal pals.

*If you are a Tuesday/Thursday family, please be sure to speak with your classroom teachers and the preschool office regarding how you can join in our farm day fun.

Stone Soup Days are one of the most significant preschool events of the year. Based on the beloved children’s book Stone Soup, each child brings a vegetable/food item to class to contribute to the community/class pot of soup. Your classroom teachers or Room Parents will let you know how you can pitch in and be a part of this beautiful preschool annual tradition.

MINIMUM DAY – NOON DISMISSAL

The day before our Preschool Thanksgiving Break is a Minimum Day. Therefore, the preschool will close promptly at noon.

PRESCHOOL CLOSED

The preschool will be closed for Thanksgiving Break in the second half of the 4th week of November. We hope and pray that everyone has a fantastic time off, reflecting on what they are thankful for.

From our preschool family to yours’…

May God continue to bless, protect, guide, and grace you all with His presence, mercy, and love now and in the coming year. Amen.

Speech and language pathologists from Jabberdogs will provide screenings for receptive and expressive language, voice, articulation, and fluency at the preschool. Once we have confirmed the screening dates, permission slips will be available at the preschool front desk.

MINIMUM DAY: NOON DISMISSAL

Rooms 1 and 2 kiddos will perform specially prepared songs along with the upper campus in our auditorium, while Rooms 3, 4, and 5 will present at the preschool. Our toddlers will host Grandparents/Special Visitors in the toddler classrooms and yard. With parent permission, the Grandparents/Special Visitors will also have a chance to check out the classrooms and even take their students with them at the end of our event.

Happy Birthday, Jesus is a SATURDAY MORNING EVENT. This annual tradition will occur at the preschool and on the PCS main campus in the auditorium.

From 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., we will host craft activities at the preschool in all of our preschool classrooms. Children and families are welcome to visit each room to make/create a Christmas craft to take.

At 11:00 a.m., all the parents and family members will drop off their preschoolers in their classrooms and then go to the auditorium to grab a seat for our Happy Birthday, Jesus performance. Each classroom prepares seasonal songs to share with our families (our toddlers we parade but not perform). Seeing the kiddos perform as we ring in the season together as a preschool family is such a treat.

News and Reminders 2024

We have so much to do and look forward to in October…

Over the first weeks of October, we will collect pumpkins, squash, and gourds of all shapes and sizes in the preschool lobby and create our own Preschool Pumpkin Patch!

If you would like to contribute, every $20 donation counts towards 1 hour of MVP.

After we refresh the preschool on Parent Site Work Day, Saturday, October 12th, we will redistribute all our squash across the campus from the Outdoor Classroom to Rooms 1 through 5 and our toddlers, too.

Thanks for donating! We can’t wait to see how big our Pumpkin Patch will become.

Our second chapel of the year is here! For our first chapel together, we focused on the Creation Story. We are now moving on to Adam and Eve and discussing the power of choices, consequences, and God’s love.

There are two ways to participate in this year’s event.

  1. Donate materials/supplies.
  • Help at the event. (Psst…volunteering to work at this event is worth double hours. Work 2 and receive 4. 😉

We will clean classrooms, power wash the patios, add sand and woodchips, and more. Please use the SignUp.com link below to join in all the fun.

We’re using SignUp.com to organize. Here’s how it works in 3 easy steps:

1) Click this link to see our SignUp on SignUp.com:  https://signup.com/go/xxvcaYQ

2) Review the options listed and choose the spot(s) you like.

3) Sign up! It’s Easy – you will NOT need to register an account or keep a password on SignUp.com.

Note: SignUp.com does not share your email address with anyone.

Once again, the preschool will participate in the Great California ShakeOut. This will be a full earthquake drill involving practicing “Bunnies in the Hole,” aka duck & cover, and a muster onto the main campus for an official headcount.

The preschoolers will muster in our parking lot and then walk over to the big field grass, where we will read books, sing songs, and possibly have a snack before returning to the preschool campus to resume our day.

It is time for a teacher in-service day. These days are crucial and provide us the much-needed time for training, planning, preparation, and cleaning that can’t be achieved while the children are on campus. We are grateful for these opportunities to grow and improve all we do in service to the children and families.

Fall Conferences are here! We will sit down to discuss the kiddos, all we’ve done, and plans for the days ahead. Please use the classroom links below to find your classroom information and sign-ups.

Childcare will be provided for all our current preschoolers and siblings. Please see Mr. Tim or Ms. Kohar if you need an older or younger child to participate in the care during your conference.

They’re back! We will again be taking Candid Photos of all the kiddos at the preschool this year. These photos are different from traditional school photos as they are meant to catch the kids in action. Our photographer, Adrea Scheidler, is a PCS mom with many years of experience capturing those adorable preschool smiles. Once photos have been taken, Ms. Adrea will provide families with individual links for viewing and purchasing options.

Our annual tradition of Apple Pumpkin Days is just around the corner. During the last week of October, we will celebrate this year’s harvest season with unique themed books, activities, and treats. Watch for emails from your classroom teachers or Room Parents about how you can help support this fun-filled fall tradition.

Will you be volunteering on campus this year?

If you plan to help out in the classroom or during a special event, we will need a signed Volunteer Confidentiality Agreement on file.

Hard copies are available in the Preschool Office.

Older Pod Field Trip to Underwood Family Farms – Friday, November 22nd

Mark your calendars! Rooms 1, 2, & 3 will be going on our traditional fall field trip to Underwood Family Farm this year, yay! It has been three years since we have enjoyed this fantastic outing, and we can’t wait. More details will be released throughout the month.

Rooms 4, 5, and Toddlers will enjoy Farm Days on-site with special farm animal guests.

News and Reminders 2024

Can you believe we are already in the last month of the school year? The time has flown by since our first week together in August. We have had a fantastic year at the preschool and are excited about what will come over our remaining weeks together.

A group of ASL students from Maranatha High School will be coming to read to the older pod. While one student reads a developmentally appropriate book, additional students will sign the words. We look forward to seeing the “big kids,” hearing the stories, and learning a few new hand signs.

The first full week of May is Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week. Our fantastic teachers and staff do a tremendous job, and we look forward to showing them our gratitude.

Please take a peek at your teacher’s Favorite Things Pages for inspiration, too.

*Participation is entirely optional but greatly appreciated.

We are so excited to have a visit from the police department’s furry division. A K9 Unit will be with us to show how officers and trained dogs work together to help keep us safe. We are thrilled to have a member of the Puppy PD on campus and look forward to seeing the four-footed officer at work.

We are hosting our Open House at the preschool from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; this is a drop-by event. Each classroom will be working hard to spruce up and prepare for a visit from all of our families. We are excited to share the life and happenings of our campus and can’t wait to see everyone. This is also an excellent opportunity to visit our elementary campus, too. They will be hosting their Open House from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Our Fruit of the Spirit for the month of May is Goodness. We will discuss what happened after Christ rose from the tomb and how God sent us a special helper, the Holy Spirit, to guide us as we follow Jesus.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

You’re invited to join us for our annual end-of-the-year picnic! Families will enjoy water play, glitter tattoos, crafts, snow cones, popcorn, spending time with friends, meeting new families, and more. So please join us for all the fun!

  • WHEN: Saturday, May 18th, 11 AM to 1 PM
  • WHERE: PCS Field – Parking: Garfield Lot @ 1492 N. Garfield Ave.
  • COST: $5.00 (per person), includes a hotdog lunch & all activities.
  • RSVP: Please RSVP by Wednesday, May 15th

Payments can be made in the Preschool Office prior to the event. A few additional tickets will be available at the gate on the day of the picnic. Cash, checks, or FACTs billing are all accepted.

We’re looking forward to a fantastic time together!

We will celebrate the end of the school year with our traditional classroom Pizza Parties. Of course, the preschool will provide pizza, but there will be classroom sign-ups for additional side items such as fruit, paper goods, and table décor. The classrooms will be sharing those sign-ups towards the middle of May.

The preschool will be closed to celebrate and remember all the brave men and women who have and continue to uphold and defend our nation here in the United States and around the world. Their service and sacrifice are greatly appreciated and deserve profound recognition and unceasing gratitude. Thank you for your service.

We felt that aloha was the perfect sentiment for the last two days of our preschool year. So, hello to summer, goodbye to our year together, and of course, I love you.

On Wednesday and Thursday, we invite all the kids to dress in their brightest, most tropical, and Hawaiian best. We will also celebrate our year’s conclusion with special photo ops at drop-off and much more.

This year has been amazing! It is a blessing to watch the children grow up, and we are excited to celebrate those students who will be moving on to the next phase of school, whether here at PCS or beyond.

This year, we will host our traditional promotion ceremony on the main campus in the auditorium from 6 to 7 PM. The Room 1 & 2 kiddos have been rehearsing some adorable songs and can hardly wait to share them.

Keep your eyes peeled for your invitation with all the details.

The preschool will be closed to students for cleaning and summer prep. However, the preschool office will be open to answer questions and help with any summer paperwork that may still need to be completed before the start of camp.

Our first session of Fun in the Sun: Rockin’ Rainforest! and Kinder Camp will kick off on Monday, June 10th. Summers at the preschool are chock-full of good times and new adventures, and we can hardly wait to get started.

Will you join this year’s “Fun in the Sun” summer camp? If so, be sure to turn in your registration forms ASAP. Spaces are filling up fast, and we only have a few left. Summer camp is FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE, so don’t miss out on your chance to be a part of the fun at preschool this summer.

  1. Please drive carefully, keeping an eye on speed and kiddos in the lot.
  2. Children should be directed to stay on the sidewalk during pick-up and drop-off except when accessing their vehicles. Little people are very hard to spot between cars.
  3. Our lot’s limited spaces make quick drop-offs and pick-ups ideal.

Thanks for helping us keep our little ones safe, healthy, and happy.

New and Reminders 2024

Can you believe that it’s already March? We are about to spring into spring and can hardly wait to see what hatches around the preschool.

Classrooms have sent out our mid-year reports via email for all the kiddos. Be sure to take a look. Teachers will happily chat with parents who want to discuss the year’s progress and future.

Did you know Dr. Seuss wrote Green Eggs and Ham using only 50 words?

Published in 1960, the book originated as a wager between Random House publisher/co-founder Bennett Cerf and Theodor Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss.  “Bennett Cerf bet me I couldn’t write a book using 50 words or less, and I wanted to show him that I could,” Dr. Seuss.

Over the past 60 years, Dr. Seuss’ books and stories have shaped and continue to impact early childhood literature. We will celebrate him and his contributions at preschool by reading several of his books this year. Thank you, Dr. Seuss, for firing our imaginations and our love of rhyme and introducing us to the worlds inside of books.

Did you miss our first picture days, or are you hoping for a redo? Make-up Picture Day will be our last chance to capture those preschool smiles officially. Please let us know if you need your picture taken by stopping by the front desk.

*Tuesday/Thursday friends are welcome to drop by and take their pictures, too.

Our Fruit of the Spirit for March is Gentleness. We will explore what it means to be gentle and read the Parable of the Lost Sheep.

As it is March, we will also discuss St. Patrick, his ministry, and how he used the clover to explain the nature of the trinity, three in one. Chapel is always a wonderful time spent together in worship, fellowship, and the praise of the Lord.

Our last Teacher In-service Day of the year. These days are crucial and provide us the much-needed time for training, planning, preparation, and cleaning that can’t be achieved while the children are on campus. We are grateful for these opportunities to grow and improve all we do in service to the children and families.

The main campus will be CLOSED for their Mini-Spring Break on Monday, March 11th, and Tuesday, March 12th.

Will you be joining us for our Preschool Fun in the Sun or Kinder Camp this year?

If so, be sure to turn in your summer camp registration forms ASAP. Don’t miss out on your chance to be a part of the fun at the preschool this summer and to divide your summer tuition into two payments.

With a touch of the blarney, we will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year with leprechauns, shamrocks, and so much more. The story of St. Patrick is also an excellent time to talk about the call to spread the gospel to the world.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

Holy Week ✝️🕊️🐣

We’ve had a fun and eventful week in Room 3! The children enjoyed Easter art projects, Bible stories, and chapel. We even found some bunnies up in the loft!

One of our families was able to come in and do a fun cooking project with the class. We learned how to make rice balls and ate them all, yum!

Pizza party! 🍕

Since it’s finally starting to feel like Spring, we got to enjoy lots of outside time, including a picnic snack and a special music and movement activity.

Another one of our wonderful parents led us in song and dance.
Hopping even higher than bunnies 🐰

Last but not least, our Easter chapel!

Fun Before Winter Break

Last week we had our Grandparents Day and annual Happy Birthday Jesus celebration. A big thank you to everyone that came out and made it all the more fun.

On Monday and Tuesday we had our pajama and hot cocoa day. We got to watch a Christmas movie and have fun all day relaxing in our cozy pajamas!

And to top it off, our very own Mr. Tim came and read to us “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” in his awesome Grinch pajamas. Hope everyone has a wonderful winter vacation celebrating Jesus and remembering the true reason for this season ! ❤️🎄
