Welcome to Room 1!

Welcome to Room 1! Our year is well underway and we are having so much fun together! Our little ones have been hard at work and play and we’re so excited to see how well they have acclimated to our classroom routine, are meeting classroom expectations of being loving toward one another, and are learning to work together as a family unit!

Check out some highlights of our day-to-day activities!

Our day begins with “Morning Meeting!” This is a fun, focused 25 minutes of learning. Engaging Bible Memory Verse songs help us learn God’s word. We select daily job helpers, review calendar, share news, and pray for our day. This is a fabulous time for us to practice taking turns, public speaking, self-regulation, counting, and one-to-one correspondence. We also build print and phonological awareness by writing words and emphasizing sounds together. What an exciting way to put to work all our pre-kindergarten/kindergarten readiness skills!

Our favorite part of the day is BIBLE time! We love to open God’s word everyday and HEAR His word so we can DO His words. His word guides us, teaches us, corrects us, and strengthens us. This year we will be reading the greatest, most exciting rescue story of all time! The Jesus Storybook Bible will take us, chronologically, through the story of creation, detail the ministry of Jesus Christ, and end with the Resurrection and arrival of the Holy Spirit (God Himself, loving and helping us everyday). Our Bible time includes, micro-dramatic visual demonstrations, skits, dramatic audio stories, interactive visual animations on the Bible App for Kids and so much more!

Our small group rotations are 10-12 minutes of fun! With four small groups, three teacher directed groups and one independent group–We explore Language/Literacy, Math/Science, Manipulatives, and Daily Writing Journals.

Play, play, play! We’re developing social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills as we engage with others and our environment.

We’re so thrilled that we get to grow together this year! We truly have no greater joy than to hear and see all our kiddos walking in the truth (3 John 1:4). We love you and are praying that your families have a wonderful school year!

Love,

Ms. Kristen, Mrs. Jen, and Mrs. Sarah (Left to Right)

Our First Month in Room 5!

Wow! Hard to believe we’re already through with our first month of the school year! We’ve been working hard getting to know the routine, the songs, the names of our friends and teachers, and learning all about each other! Back-to-School night was a hit and we’ve already had our first very generous parent donation from our Wishlist! We were given 3 beloved board books (Brown Bear, The Napping House, and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom) to replace the very loved and worn copies we had previously. Thank You SO much to the amazing parents who donate to our classrooms to make the environment a little sleeker, a little newer, and a little more plush than it was when they got here. You guys rock!

The students of Room 5 are already forming friendships and learning the lay of the land in their new school. For many, this is the first time they’ve been in a school setting, so we’ve been learning all about how to ask for things with “polite words”, how to scoop and pass snack at the snack table, how to take turns and say “I’m using that” or “It’s my turn” when another friend’s patience has run thin (two-year-olds’ patience runs thin quite often) and how to sit in a group and participate at circle time! We are also learning about common experiences, parts of the body, names of tools, and playing dress-up in our dramatic play Doctor’s Office! This has been a really fun way for the classmates to get to know each other by talking about this common experience we’ve all had, and taking turns operating on various teddy bears and sometimes even on willing human participants! Most any child in Room 5 can show you how to use a stethoscope! We’ve been exploring art and sensory bins through the theme of apples, and have already started enjoying our bi-monthly Younger Pod Music Class with Miss Maggie and Mr. Sam!

Outside the children are loving the “Baby Nursery” dramatic play center. They seem to enjoy comparing how they are different from babies and explaining to their teachers how one should care for a baby. Many of our students have new babies at home and they are quite excited to share about it!

Click on the photo tiles above to view them full size or in a slide show!

It’s been a sweet, snuggly, and sunshine-y month… we can’t wait to update again with more of the fun in Room 5!

Hi Friends!🤗

Welcome back to Room 2’s blog post! It’s so great to be back and check in with you on what we’ve up to in Room 2!

It’s been amazing to get into our rhythm as a classroom! Above is a picture of our friends at Chapel. Every Wednesday, we go up to the “big school” and join the big kids for a time of worship at Chapel. We always have an amazing time singing our hearts out to Jesus!

This week was our first week doing small groups and curriculum in our classroom, and we must say, things are off to an excellent start. Friends worked on Journals, their alphabet, and also experimented with science, as we set up an activity involving cornstarch. It was a ton of fun!😃

Our kiddos loved seeing the process of the cornstarch turning from a liquid to a solid, as well as the slimy consistency. Pretty fascinating stuff!

We’ve also been very intentional about learning some bible verses with our friends! So far, our kiddos have memorized John 10:11 and John 14:6. We encourage you to ask them about it at home and practice it together as a family. We’re really proud of our friends, and we hope you’ll help us at home by continuing to encourage them with us. Next week we will be memorizing Psalm 23:1. It’s so beautiful to learn God’s word together! 📖 ❤️

We are so happy with the way our friends are beginning to make this classroom their home away from home, and we are very thankful to have each one of them with us. They are a huge blessing to each of us and seeing them thrive is our heart’s desire this year. We are continuing to draw nearer to The Lord as we take each day, one step at a time. We know God’s heart for Room 2 is that each friend would grow and learn each day, not just academically, but in their heart, character, and identity in Him, and we are continuing to go after that everyday.

We look forward to more adventures as we get ready for Fall! Keep checking back in with us, and we’ll see ya next week.☺️

In His Love,

Miss Wendy and the Room 2 Team 🍎

“GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER”

Welcome to our first weeks of school! We are very excited to have seen your children in Room 4.  Their beautiful minds are learning and exploring new things every minute. They are doing very well getting to know each other, playing, discovering and getting familiar with their surroundings, friends and teachers.

You may not see or hear any more crying, but as you know, every child is different. We had a long weekend and your child may not understand why are they coming back to school after being home for so many days. It is hard to understand why it happens but some children may or may not cry as they come back to school from the holidays. It is perfectly normal if they do cry they are processing their feelings. Don’t worry !!!!!!

During these past few days the children explored and visited many areas of play in class as well as outside.

Have a  look and see your child/children in action. 😊

Art & Literacy

The children listened to the story, “The Giving Tree”, by Shel Silverstein. This story has simple words and drawings but displays the meaning of unconditional love in a big way. We talked about how the tree was always there for the little boy, ready to serve as best as she could. We then talked about our project and how every material we were using comes from a tree. The paper, the popsicle sticks, all comes from a tree. They then created a collaged still life of apples in a basket. The compositions varied, as some had their apples inside the basket, others had the apples outside with a few inside. And one even created a spilled basket with apples rolling out. There was even a composition of “apple popsicles”. 🙂 The imagination and movement in every single piece reflects all the possibilities in this still life project.

Enjoy! Mrs. Monica

September 2017 Preschool News and Calendar of Events

Dear Parents,

What a fabulous start to the school year we have had! Your little ones are doing such a fabulous job acclimating to their new classrooms and are enjoying all the fun activities we have at preschool. We are enjoying happy days, water play, lots of free play, big field (for the older pod), and so much more! We are also very proud of our mommies and daddies who took great strides to make drop-offs short and sweet, despite a few tearful goodbyes. You have done a great job assuring your little ones that you love them and that you will be back, then handing them to the teachers and separating quickly. These short goodbyes actually reduce stress for the children and allow the kiddos to process their emotions so they can gain their confidence and independence to feel secure at school. Well done, Parents!

NEWS, NOTES & MORE

Back to School Night: A huge thank you to all who came out to Back to School Night! We appreciate your time and commitment. If you weren’t able to come, please be sure to get the packet from your child’s teacher so you can stay in the loop!

Tell Your Friends! If you love them, we’ll love them! If you have friends who are interested in enrolling for the 2018-2019 school year, online applications for next school year will be available on the PCS website in the next week or so. We have numerous applications for next year already, so tell your friends to tour, attend an Observation Day, and apply EARLY to get on our applicant list for 2018-2019. Be sure they tell us who referred them! We LOVE our word-of-mouth referrals!

Please read through these very important “housekeeping” items to help us stay safe and run smoothly…

Classroom Sign-in Logs: Per state licensing, a FULL SIGNATURE is required on our classroom sign-in logs. We can be fined for non-compliance of this, so please help us stay in compliance by signing your full signature each day.

Unattended Drop-Offs: Be sure to ONLY leave your child in the care of a teacher when dropping off. Students should never be dropped off to an empty classroom or left on the yard with another classroom. In addition, please do not let your child go ahead of you into a classroom unattended in the morning while you are checking in.

Siblings at School: Just a gentle reminder that if you bring a younger sibling to school during drop-off and pick-up, please keep them within arms reach at all times. Please do not leave them unattended on the yard, in the lobby, in the car, or in the classrooms, even if you think you will be “just a second.” We appreciate your cooperation!

Parking Lot: In a perfect world, we would have a giant parking lot with ample space for everyone. Unfortunately, our parking lot is small and hard to maneuver. To help us through the morning rush, please drive slowly, park carefully, and keep your morning drop-offs (especially between 7:50-9:00) very short. Avoid parking along the wall when possible. Believe it or not, the parking lot is nearly VACANT until about 7:47am! Come early and avoid the rush!

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Preschool Picture Day – We are currently in the process of switching vendors and securing a date for fall preschool photos. We will let you know the date soon. Note that the photo day on Sept. 8th is for the elementary school.

In-Service Day: September 29th – This is a non-student day. In-service days allow time for teacher training, resetting classrooms, school advancement, curriculum building, and so much more. On this day, teachers will be completing the new state-required Mandated Reporter Training and working on your students’ Developmental Profiles. Have a good long weekend with your Little Blessings 🙂

Site Work Day – October 21st. – DOUBLE MVP Hours available! Keep an eye out for the Site Work Day Sign-up! Help us deep clean cubbies, beautify the garden, till the sandbox, and haul in our fresh new mulch.

This is YOUR chance to have a night on the town (or in the quiet of your own home watching Netflix!) while your little ones are safe in our care enjoying flashlight parties, pajama dance-offs, pizza and a movie. Registration is required, so sign up early! Elementary-aged siblings may attend the BYH Moonlight Magic on the same night.

PARENT TEACHER FELLOWSHIP (PTF):

MVP Booklets/Hours: All families should have received their YELLOW MVP booklet. Please record your volunteer hours in these books. You can have your hours signed off by the office staff, Room Parents, volunteer coordinators of specific events, PTF Reps, etc. Every family is required to complete 10 hours (or 20 hours if you have students at the elem/jr. high) before the end of the school year. You can turn in your book as soon as it is complete!

Welcome To Room 2!❤️

Hi there, friends!

We are SO excited to officially welcome the 2017-2018 PreK-2 class to Room 2!🍎😊

We are blessed beyond belief to have started our year so strong already! We’ve had a fantastic week getting acquainted with each one of our new friends, and our hearts are elated at the thought of how God will move in our classroom this year. We are so expectant to see Him do amazing things in the lives of each Room 2 friend, as they learn and grow.

It’s a sincere privilege and honor to be back into the swing of things here. We simply wanted to take a minute to send out this quick message as a reminder that this blog is and will continue to be a fantastic way to stay connected with us each week. We will try to post weekly so that you are in-the-know of what goes on in our classroom.

We want you to know that even before school started we as a team prayed over our Room 2 friends and their families, and we will continue to do so as the year progresses. We hope to become like family along side you, as we get to both teach your children, as well as lead them closer to Christ. What we want and hope for is to be a team with you, to ensure the most successful year for our Room 2 Friends.
Because it’s our first week, we didn’t have much of an opportunity for very many pictures, but here are just a few that we managed to capture. We’ll check back in next week!

Sincerely,

Miss Wendy and the Room 2 Team❤️
P.S. Enjoy!☺️
