We have been learning about animals all month. What a treat to have a visit from a few of our farm favorites! The kiddos got to pet and feed the goats and ducks.

Leading up to farm days, we’ve been having some fun with “chicken coops” on the older pod patio. Our friends are rolling eggs down the coop, collecting them and packaging them in egg cartons. Check out our little farmers hard at work!

We planted sunflowers in our garden, we have been caring for them for many weeks. The children always remind us to water them and to make sure there are no bugs eating them.
Oh, Yes! these seeds came from the flowers we planted last year. Our kids were very patient and alert, waiting and waiting for something to happen. It was so exciting for us to hear from some of the kids “ we see something coming out,” and them pointing out to the sprouts that appearing out from the ground. The sunflowers now measure about six to twelve inches tall.

Ms. Jen (Silas’s mom) was happy to dedicate her valuable time at our school and make an art project with all the classes in the art studio. Each classroom had a time slop to use the studio and make a special fall art activity. Your little ones enjoyed their time learning new language (squeeze and release), colors and the function of how to use an eye dropper.

We had a great time having the local Fire fighters and Police Officers visit our school and teach us about being safe!

Fall is here and we have decorated our class with pumpkins of all size, shapes and textures. Thank you parents for bringing all the assorted and fun fall items. Fall is in our class and outside our yard.
We have many books and the kids love to turn the pages, look at the pictures and make up words that go along with the book they choose. Here are some of their favorite books, “Little acorn,” ”In the middle of Fall,” “The Biggest Apple Ever,” “I Love Fall,” “Hedgehugs,” “Plumpy, Dumply, Pumpkin,” ”Penguin and Pumpkin,” “Apples and Pumpkins,” and ” The Little old lady who was not Afraid of Anything,”

In the month of November, we explore life on the farm. We also focus on the colors yellow and brown. This week’s Older Pod Patio sensory bin is set up to intentionally highlight these three major curricular concepts.
Friends from Rooms 1, 2 and 3 explore brown oobleck—a solid substance that quickly oozes into a liquid. Checkout our little piggies playing in this perfect pretend mud!

October has been filled with lots of harvest fun! We’ve explored apples and pumpkins all month long and got to celebrate harvest the last 2 days; Apple Pumpkin Day!
We incorporate fun apple pumpkin activities during small group such as exploring what breaks done pumpkin faster: Dish soap, water, or tea.
Apple Pumpkin days were filled with Apple explosions, pumpkin carving, pumpkin painting, apple pumpkin building and apple pumpkin fingerprints!
Yay October! Fall has come and it has brought a few cool days (and some really warm ones) but with it we have a few special celebrations. Apple/Pumpkin Day is one of those special times that we get to celebrate; not just once but two days! From special snacks to art and fun stories we have had a couple of busy days. Here are a couple of pictures of what we did.

We also made apple prints and did a fine motor activity with apple erasers and tongs.

We loved having the opportunity to have parents in our classrooms and we look forward to seeing more of you guys as the year progresses!
