We are working on making a banner to hang in the outdoor play area and preschool lobby. It’s a wonderful piece that not only displays whimsical colors but also allows us to showcase everyone’s artwork together and demonstrate collaboration. There will be three large hanging banners and we can’t wait to display them!

Another year of trains, travel, and three-year-olds! We had a fantastic time going on this years Gold Line Trip to Union Station. The children were thrilled be out in the world and riding on a real train. Union Station was, as always, beautiful and we also enjoyed walking over to take a look at the oldest house in LA, Avila Adobe in Olvera Street. We would like to thank all the parents who made this adventure possible by driving and chaperoning us. We have been learning so much about trains and train stations so it was fantastic to see them in person.

Integrated Pest Management Plan
IPM Statement: It is the goal of Pasadena Christian Preschool to implement IPM by focusing on long-term prevention or suppression of pests through accurate pest identification, by frequent monitoring for pest presence, by applying appropriate action levels, and by making the habitat less conducive to pests using sanitation and mechanical and physical controls. Pesticides that are effective will be used in a manner that minimizes risks to people, property, and the environment, and only after the other options have been show ineffective

When the above-mentioned practices are ineffective, the school will use our contracted pest control company to use pesticides as necessary.
Chemical Management Practices
If non-chemical methods are ineffective, our school will consider pesticides only after careful monitoring indicates that they are needed according to pre-established action levels and will use pesticides that pose the least possible hazard and are effective in a manner that minimizes risks to people, property and the environment.
This child care centers uses Ecola, a contracted pest control business to apply pesticides on our behalf on the FOURTH SATURDAY of each month to treat for ants and other insects as they have proven difficult to manage without the use of chemical assistance. Pesticide data sheets can be viewed in the front office.

2018 Pesticide Application Schedule (conducted by Ecola) is the 4th Saturday of each month. This posting serves as the required advanced notice for pesticide application at our school.

The students in Room 1 have shown a keen interest in news casting and weather reporting over the past few weeks, so the teachers set up an ABC7 themed news room in the dramatic play center. Much to our delight, Phillip Palmer offered to come and visit!!
The students (and teachers!) were brimming with excitement this morning when Phillip Palmer and Mr. Chris, the camera man, made their appearance this morning. The students got to see the camera, hold the microphone and even go inside the truck!
After a presentation from Mr. Phillip, and a very lively Q&A from the students, the children showed Mr. Phillip their “news station” and pretended to put on their own news cast!
This story will be featured on ABC7 on Friday, February 9th between 6:00 -7:00 am.
During the month of January, the students all enjoyed investigations into winter, snow, ice, and all things COLD! We played with ice, enjoyed a snowball target practice outside, and learned about winter animals. After just a few short days of cooler weather, winter has seemingly come and gone here in SoCal (sigh!).
We are now moving into the month of LOVE here at preschool! Classrooms will be colored with red, white and pink while students learn about loving others, God’s love for them, friendship, and the holiday of Valentine’s Day. Many classrooms will be celebrating with a special party, so be on the lookout for details from your child’s teacher.

ONLINE RE-ENROLLMENT HAS BEGUN! – You should have received your child’s online re-enrollment packet via email from Betty St. Peter. Please check your child’s assigned schedule for accuracy prior to opening the package. If you need to make a change to your child’s schedule, please be sure to email Kristin PRIOR to opening the package kperez@pcs.school
Online re-enrollment and the annual registration fee a is due MARCH 1st.
SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! Summer registration forms were place in mailboxes and emailed to you this week. Students are guaranteed their current space until March 8th. Changes to schedules can usually be accommodated during the summer, but submit early to ensure you get the space you desire as they are processed in the order they are received. 🙂
KINDER CAMP – Kinder Camp is open to all students entering TK and/or Kindergarten in the fall. Due to the nature of the program, Kinder Camp is only available in 2 4-Week sessions (not weekly). Kinder Camp is held on the PCS campus (in the TK, First Grade and Kindergarten classrooms). Should you need weekly care, your child may join us at the preschool for one last hurrah before heading off to “big” school ;-).

We had a fantastic week making scrumptious pancakes and building grand train tracks with our new train toys. As our field trip to the train station draws closer, we are excited to see how invested and interested the children are when it comes to learning about trains and playing with trains. In addition, we are also learning about an American folk hero and train track hero named John Henry!
Hi guys! It’s been a long while since we’ve last checked in! We hope this finds you well and enjoying the first day of February! (Can you believe it?!)🤗💘❄️
Room 2 has been busy transitioning back into the rhythm of learning and having fun! We’ve been hard at work practicing our counting, letter recognition, and have been intentional about getting our hands into some science experiments!
Room 2 had the awesome opportunity to learn about worm anatomy!🐛🐛🐛🐛🐛😱😆 It was quite the experience!! We were so excited to see our friends be excited to learn! We loved learning about how worms help to keep our earth healthy, so that things are able to grow nice and strong in the ground! They are nature’s littlest farmers! We also learned about salt and how salt affects ice! Our friends had an amazing time seeing the salt melt ice and we added some fun colors too, and tracked the salt! It was so fun! 
Small groups continue to be a blast for both friends and teachers! We love getting excited about learning! We have also been working hard on our numbers and letters, using fun things like salt and buttons to practice!
SO FUN!!!
We love what we do here. God is so faithful and good and his love is always present, shaping us in our heart and guiding our learning. It’s the most precious thing in the world to see God in the lives of each of our Room 2 friends. That’s the real treasure here, and we can’t believe we get to see it all happen. Wow.✨
One last thing, we’ve been really intentional about talking about obedience this past month and what it means for us and for God when we choose to obey. The Bible tells us in Luke 11:28 that Jesus said that those who hear the word of God and obey it are blessed. We’ve discussed obedience every day at school and have been intentional to really explain to our friends that the choice to obey God, parents, teachers, and just good and healthy authority ultimately brings us good things; God’s goodness. We encourage you to ask our friends about obedience and keep the conversation going at home. God loves when we obey, because it shows maturity and it shows that we are ready to be trusted with more of the blessings he wants to give us. So good!

Last week we had the opportunity to make Gak, also known by the kids as slime. It is a glue based polymer substance that was and still is popular with the children. As a matter of fact, it’s pretty fun for the teachers in Room 3 as well. Be sure to be careful if you attempt to make this at home because just like glue, it will stick but it won’t come off easily.
Welcome back, blessings to everyone. We did so much in the month of January such as reading books about snow, ice observation, discus what kind of animals live in the ice, and letters.
