So you might be wondering what the children do after their hour-long adventure on the playground, but rest assured that their day is full of fun activities. Once the clock strikes 10, Room 3 ventures back inside the classroom to sing songs, read many different books and more during Morning Meeting. However, the excitement doesn’t stop there…but let us leave that for another blog post.
October News and Calendar of Events
Can you believe school has been in session over a month already? We are now “falling” into the autumn season…one of our favorites here at preschool. Though the weather isn’t necessarily cooperating (20-30 degrees cooler would be much more on par with ‘fall’ weather!), all the classrooms are gearing up to study fall, harvest and all that this season brings. Within the next week or so, you will see our Outdoor Classroom transform into a festival of color with pumpkins, gourds, and more adorning the yard.
In the News:
Moonlight Magic: Moonlight Magic is right around the corner (Friday, October 14th). Please sign up by October 10th to reserve your child’s space (flyer attached). You can enjoy an evening out while the children enjoy “Moonlight” yard time (complete with flashlights or glow sticks!), pajama parties, pizza, then popcorn and a movie!
Speech Assessments: Justine Sherman & Associates will be conducting speech screenings on October 11th & 12th. These screenings help assess your child’s expressive and receptive language, as well as his/her articulation. These screenings are optional and cost $45. A permission form is required and will be sent out next week. Please discuss with your child’s teacher their recommendation for your child.
Parent-Teacher Conferences: Conferences will be held October 28th. Sign-ups will be available next week. This is a non-student day. Care will be provided for students during your scheduled conference time. Please make every effort to attend these conferences as this is your opportunity to talk with the teachers one-on-one and your teacher will share with you your child’s progress thus far.
Observation Days: PCS offers several formal Observation Days where prospective parents can listen to a short message from Dr. Gray and then tour the campuses. If you are interested in PCS TK or Kindergarten, this is a great opportunity for you to see the school in action. Also, if you have friends who would enjoy PCS, please mention our Observation Days to them! To sign up, visit http://www.pasadenachristian.org/admissions/observationdayres.cfm

Harvest in Room 2!🍎
Hello and greetings from Room 2!😊
Another week has come and gone, and Room 2 has been doing lots of fun activities representing the Harvest season we are in!
Our fun activities this week have been inspired by our favorite fruit of the season: Apples!🍎🍏🍎🍏
We love apples in Room 2 (and we do mean LOVE!)! Toward the very end of last week, friends made art work in the form of “Apple Printing.” The idea of printing with apples is similar to using fingerprints, using apples and paint to see what unique shapes and prints each apple produces.🍎🎨
We also had an “apple-tasting center,” and our friends had the chance to really taste the different apples and notice differences in texture, color, and flavor! It was quite the experience, and it gave us the opportunity to expand on our knowledge of a healthy snack that we already love.
Delicious!😄
Lastly, our friends got to cook a fun and healthy snack with Miss Wendy, with the special help of one of our parents!(Thanks, Dina!❤️) the children made Apple Pancake Pops, and they were delicious!🍏🍴
Celebrating Harvest has been loads of fun, and has given us much to reflect on as well. The Harvest Season itself encourages us to adopt an attitude of thankfulness and to be in-tune with God’s heart, as we collect and recognize the many blessings He’s brought us.
God’s Word also tells us that the Harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few (Matthew 9:38), and here in Room 2 we are not afraid to ask God to use us to shine His light, love, and heart through us. We pray and ask Jesus daily to make us like Himself, brave and strong to respond in love toward each other and this world. Though we are little, our hearts already beat for Jesus and for who He is…
Jesus. He is who we want to be like.❤️
We pray that as you read this, you too will feel God’s invitation in your heart to respond to the Harvest Season with thankfulness and courage to shine His light everywhere we are.
“You are the LIGHT of the world… Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.” Matthew 5: 14 & 16.
With Love,
Your Friends in Room 2 💕
P.S. Here are some extra pictures that we thought you would enjoy! 😀

Dear Parents,
Happy First Day of Autumn!
It is with a warm smile that your friends in Room 2 would like to wish you a Happy First Day of Autumn! As the first day of the new season comes to an end, our teachers and friends in Room 2 are proud to report that we have finally started to “Fall” into step, as a classroom!🍁🍂🌰
The teachers in Room 2 have noticed a significant change in the way that friends are responding to transitions in the classroom, demonstrating great team work. Some friends even go as far as helping other friends finish a task, once they are done with their own.
It is quite special, and we are proud of our classroom and of how Jesus’ love is present here. Though we are far from perfect, we are thankful as a classroom to be given opportunities to extend love, grace, forgiveness, and compassion everyday, as God grows these qualities in us.❤️
This week, to celebrate the start of the new Autumn season, we worked on Apple Printing art! Friends had so much fun exploring different colors and shapes. The artwork was beautiful!

We also learned about the Tower of Babel, from the book of Genesis, Chapter 11. Friends were fascinated to learn about the origins of all the different languages of the world, and we celebrated the diversity of languages in our own classroom! It was a lovely a treat to have our dear friends Ms. Nora and Ms. Cece come be a part of our demonstration of different languages in Room 2.🌎🌍🌏

All in all, we are off to a great start of the new season, and we look forward to continuing to grow and learn together as a classroom in the coming months. Until next week, we leave you with this verse, from Psalm 17. We pray that it would set the tone for your new season as well, just as it has in Room 2.
Blessings and Happy Autumn, from your friends in Room 2!

Apples Everywhere!
Room 5 has done a lot of art exploration with our Apple theme! We mixed cinnamon paint with sparkles and oats last week to decorate our classroom, and this week we are getting bubbly with baking soda and colored vinegar! We worked on our pincer grasp by sprinkling baking soda onto our apple cut-outs and used fine tip brushes to paint our glittery colored vinegar over it. Then we watched the reaction fizz! The joys of art and science combined as we created our fizzy apple art this week.

lol

Art time with Room 3!
Room 3 along with the other rooms at school have been exploring their creative minds with Ms. Monica the past couple of weeks. During their time with Ms. Monica, the children have a blast unleashing their inner creativity through the different art activities that are planned for them. As the year goes on, the children will explore different ways to use their creative minds to create art pieces that allow us to take a peek at their vast imagination.
Room 5’s First Month!
Can you believe we have just finished our first month of preschool?! We have been working and playing so hard in Room 5 that the time has flown by. Our youngsters have been hard at work learning their new classroom routine, making friendships, and discovering all the excitement that their new school has to offer.

One of our themes this month is apples, so naturally we got to make art through apple stamping! Fine motor skills, visual arts, and messy fun abound in this activity.

The good times and creativity never seem to stop flowing here!

It’s been an incredibly blessed first month in Room 5 and the teachers in here are incredibly grateful for the loving and enthusiastic families we get to work with each day.
Happy Fall Y’All
Today we had our first taste of Fall (I know, I know it’s not official until next week) by making homemade apple crisp! Yum-o! Each of your little darlings took a turn to operate our apple corer, peeler, slicer. Yes! We cored, peeled AND sliced! Then we snapped our spirals into pieces and layer them into a buttered pan. But that’s not all! We topped our crunchies with brown sugar/cinnamon crumb topping! Oooh la la! We ate this delicious concoction after our lunch. We loved it so much that we will bake it again tomorrow.
